![]() Title: Bulletstorm Genre: First-Person Shooter Platforms: Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Microsoft Windows (I played the PC version) Developers: People Can Fly, Epic Games Release Date: February 22, 2011 Publishers: EA Story The story is kind of over the top. It's the 26th century, the confederation of space planets is being protected by a black ops army named Dead Echo. The game follows Grayson Hunt, who is a space pirate, and his cyborg Ishi Sato. Their squad was betrayed by their commander, and 10 years later they decide to take revenge. The story is pretty humorous, and it throws a lot of toilet humour at you, but it sort of suits the game. While the story is there, it's not really there. There really isn't a lot of character development and you never really feel attatched to other characters. The story is original, though and it will be a nice change of pace from other shooters, unfortunatley the rest of the game won't. Gameplay Bulletstorm tries to do something different with it's over the top combat. You are rewarded for killing enemies a certain way, by performing skillshots. You could just shoot a guy in the chest till he dies, or you can fling him in the air, shoot him in the testicles, and incinerate his body before it hits the ground. The latter will get you more points. Other than that, this is a very basic shooter. It's funny because their whole marketing scheme was based off the "There are so many bland shooters on the market" claim, yet this isn't very original itself. This is a perfect testimony to the argument that there are too many shooters on the market. It just didn't feel fresh, sorry. I was also dissapointed that there was no head to head multiplayer, it's a little disheartening since it's probably the best thing about this genre. Graphics The game is beautiful. The texture work is great, the models are fantastic, the color scheme is nice, but the most impressive thing is the lighting system. It compliments the graphics as a whole and really makes them what they are. Effects also look really nice and the game just looks very polished. There are also a good number of set pieces here that are done just right. Overall Overall, Bulletstorm is a good game and it's easy to have fun with. I just don't like that they ragged on bland shooters and then proceeded to do nothing out of the ordinary. If you're burnt out on shooters, this won't feel fresh and you'll probably get bored with it very quickly. If you're one of those people who only plays the occaisonal shooter, you'll probably have a great time with this. And maybe you're one of those people who have taken a break from shooters, such as myself and want to make a return to the genre. Unfortunatley, this probably isn't the best game to return to. Final Score - 7.5/10 |

Photobucket is garbage and wants me to pay money to use my own images here all of the sudden (even though it was never an issue for years).
See if I ever use Photobucket for anything ever again.
