Gameplay:

Excellent gameplay, I must say. Incredibly fun. When you're not headshotting civil protection units, you're solving clever puzzles with the superior support engine, which gives it an abundance of realism.

And of course, the gravity gun.. This is a revolutionary weapon introduced into gaming. With it, you can manipulate physics, and objects.

9.0/1.0 here!

Graphics:

Graphics set to high are more than exceptional, and are quite realistic. Even on Low settings however, take Alyx's hair for example, a lot of work went into it to give it a good lookin' style.

9.5/10 here!

Music:

Not every track is memorable. However, there is a good song, 'Triage at Dawn/Path of the Borealis", aswell as thrilling battle music, which really adds to the gameplay.

7.0/1.0 here!

Plot:

You are Gordon Freeman, basically, Chuck Norris with a crowbar.
In the first game, you accidentally cause an alien invasion in the Black Mesa facility, as you test something with your MIT graduate 1337 scientist skills. (long story short!). At the end of which, the player is believed to have defeated the alien race. You are put into a statis for a range of at least a few years.

When you awake, it would appear another alien race has invaded taken over planet earth, because of a 'portal storm', which occured soon after you were put into statis. The alien race, is know as Universal Union, dubbed 'The Combine' by most humans in the game. Not only this, you find out they conquered the planet in a mere 7 hours! Damn, talk about advanced.

You discover the ruthlessness of The Combine. They have renamed every city with a number, having its citizens live in it, all wearing a blue jumpsuit uniform to forget their 'old life', with Civil Protection officers, the abusive police, watching over them. Any chance they see, they beat citizen up with their high volt stunsticks. Dr. Breen (who was the administator of the black mesa facility) , a puppet used for the combine, spreads propaganda, to make life seem normal, and brainwash the citizens.

The Combine saw anyone who wore glasses, was stupid, fat, ugly, any hinderence in any shape or form, 'mentally imperfect', and merely killed them. Killing 5/6's of the planet's population, leaving 1 billion people putting up a supression field to prevent reproduction. The remaining humans are turned into combine units, or used for cheap labour as citizens.

However, the signal of Gordon Freeman returning, gives the resistance, led by Eli, a former comrad at Black Mesa, and his daughter Alyx (who becomes what is basically your sidekick!) a new hope, to take back the land which the combine stole for them.

10.0/10.0 here! May not sound the best from my descrption, but eh.. it really is really good.

Lifetime:

There honestly isn't much replayability, however, mods for it such as 'Garrys Mod' will keep you entertained with the glory of the source engine, for hours on end.

7.0/10.0 here!

Overall:

This is truly, TRULY, an amazing, and awesome game.

Final Score: 8.5/1.0

Highly, HIGHlY, recommended.
