Now before everyone goes spamming about how this game is for the Gameboy and reviews should only be for new games, hear me out: I consider this game a gem from my childhood, and there are no rules on reviewing older games. The point of this review is to share my thoughts on the game and to convince anyone who missed it to give it a shot. Thank you.

Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga
Platform: Gameboy Advance

Gameplay: First things first, the game is an RPG, so if you don't enjoy those this game may not be for you. As it plays, however, the level system is not broken, making it unnecessary and hard to grind for levels. If you fight 90% of the enemies you should be in good shape for most of the areas and bosses. (Besides the final one).Outside of battle is where the game truly shines though. Nice controls for both Bros. and a variety of actions such as jumps, hammers, and hand powers, all which get special versions later in game lead to many fun puzzles onscreen. Items are easy to use, stats are easy to check, equips are easy to switch. One of the most fun parts of the game are the cooperative special moves, such as Mario lighting Luigi's butt on fire to make him sprint really fast. (Or just for lols). The only part of the game that is really frustrating is a desert section in which you must escort Peach. That place is too annoying for its own good. Otherwise, everything about the gameplay fits perfectly with the game.

Graphics: Some people may diss this game for its graphics, but I think its important to take into account the system it was for. The Gameboy, a system which now as the 3DS still has somewhat annoying graphics. Even so, the graphics fit the game. The comedic tone fits with the cartoony characters, and leads to some great childhood moments of mine.

The graphics really aren't that bad in the end, and they have aged well.

Music: When you first start this game, you may think that I was lying about the music. And to tell the truth, the first two areas DON'T have good music. Once you get farther in the game however it gets better and better. It's important to note that this game has one of the only underwater tunes that don't make me want to rip my ears out. The music makes its peak at

, with possibly one of my favorite tunes of all time. The music in this game is simple, but lends itself perfectly to the areas of the game making the experience that much better. Another awesome music point is that the battle music is actually catchy and good. In fact, some of the best music of the game comes from a recurring boss battle.

Plot: Mario games may not be known for their plot, but this game really should be. Although it isn't Final Fantasy material, the plot for this game is cartoony and lends laughs every minute of the way. To start off, some weird crazy magician steals Peach's voice, replacing her words with bombs (That gets fun). Then you work with Bowser to get it back from the Beanbean Kingdom where stuff obviously goes wrong and hilarity ensues. This is where the plot really picks up though. SPOILERS AHEAD:

. Okay, the plot isn't great, but its crazy.

Lifetime: If you are playing lots of RPGs and serious games, you will be disappointed by this game's length. For an RPG it isn't too long. For a Mario game, however, the game is way longer than average. Several twists make the game longer than originally thought, and it works perfectly. The final boss really feels like the end-all finale. 100% the game is even harder. A certain piece of equipment can only be gotten if you find all the invisible blocks in the entire world, and although this may be a chore, it increases play time for serious players. Non-serious players don't need this equipment and can get through the entire game without doing any sidequests, it will just make the game harder (which could be seen as yet another challenge for serious players). There is absolutely no replay value besides grinding the hell out of yourself to make a really difficult final boss a one-hit wonder. However, I have found myself playing through the game over and over, just for the laughs.

Overall: I think I've made it clear enough how much I love this game. You should play it. If there is one thing I could add to this review though, its the boss battles. These really are the best part of the game, and make it as enjoyable as it is. You never know what you're going to encounter next. Besides some obvious battles with magicians and a certain turtle, the boss battles range from possessed dolls that love the Bros. to hermit crabs who think they are Christmas trees to animate sodas who gain life when told bad puns. Needless to say, the Beanbean kingdom is a crazy place, and you should definitely visit.

RAINBOW HYPER!!!
Reviews are not supposed to just be for new games. Someone wrote a review of the original Kid Icarus.

But yeah, really nice review. You may have gone overboard with the spoiler windows, but other than that, I think this review is phenomenal.

Why do people always have trouble with the final boss? It was a breeze for me.

This is Pabu. Enjoy him.
For some reason, the final boss was really easy for me too. I was kinda overpowered, as I went back to grind for items and find as much as I could. The hardest part of this game for me was, of all things, Queen Bean. When I was first playing the game, I didn't know I could attack her arms. That made it so much harder. Of course, I was like 7, and I facepalmed when I realized I could.

As a little kid I had problems with Queen Bean as well! As a kid you don't really figure out some of the ways to kill bosses...
