These are nine florins I found locally.A grader had made a fire break near an old ruin.I was detecting near the edge of the break when I hit a target at 15cm. I pulled out a nice silver florin and wizzed over the same area again.Surprise surprise another fine florin.Seven florins later I had a tally of nine. They were all out of the same hole which makes me believe they must have been buried at the same time.but no sign of a container, unless they were in a bag which has since decomposed.
Now I was wondering if anyone can advise as to the best way of cleaning same.
Cheers

Phil,
All information indicates you can do more harm than good trying to clean coins.
Below is just one of many many links you can find on the internet which discourages cleaning.
BTW That is a great collection you have uncovered.
Back in the 90's myself and 2 mates used to hit the beaches after nightshift with our Whites Vsat's.
Few hours of peace before the string of questions from curious beach goers. "What are you doing?" "What do you find?" blah blah blah!
Last count there was $700.00 in my jar, mainly $1 & $2.

Along came the Minelab and it was back out hunting for gold. Thought I had found a very valuable ring, wrong, only a dress ring worth a couple of dollars.

Good luck & safe travels
