Hi, I am sitting in Port Lincoln, researching a novel. Time span 1865 to 1965 and am not at stage of wanting to write about early gold discovery in WA.

A while back, I was caretaker at Secret Creek, though if anyone is familiar with that mine and its owner you will understand I ended up more like a process worker than a caretaker. However, on a good day, was taken out to Top Camp - magical place - reckon you could market it as honeymoon destination by helicoptering the bridal couple and leave them there for a week. Beautiful spot.

Once upon a time I was full bottle on dates in the Ashburton field but too much travel and too many places has led to memory loss.

Am looking to include Secret Creek in my novel when I get to the time of the Boer War. etc.

If only I knew then the information I am looking for now! Ever thus.

Hi Isabel & welcome to the forum also.

I have some info on the Ashburton Goldfields that may help you in your research.
If you have a look here:

I have put some info on Top Camp with some pics that may bring back memories.
Haven't been up there for awhile but will return when the time is right.
Cheers,

Ted
