Hi Members,

We were originally going to start this topic just after the new year, however we realized there may be a few members away, so we decided to start it now.

We will be organizing the camp/meet for 2017,and planning for the meet to start on Saturday 13th May for 1 week, everyone will need to be
self sufficient with food, water and fuel ect.

At this stage we will have to work on a plan A and a plan B, because if the area gets a bit of rain the track will be inaccessible for plan A. The area will be between Leonora and Leinster.

Everyone who will be detecting will need to have a WA miners Right and be a member of APLA and sign all the required paperwork for the Mining Companies.

The limit is 23 members/partners, so if you are interested post your name to this topic to reserve your spot.

Cheers

Laurie and Roz

PS We will be away between 22 December to the 3 January on a Christmas and New Year Cruise, first one in 40 years.

Hi Laurie and Roz,

We are planning a WA trip this year and would love to catch up with other members. My wife is also a very keen detectorist.

If you could put our names down for 2017 it would be very much appreciated. We are from the NT and are presently in Victoria planning to travel towards WA in the new year.

G'day Laurie & Roz.
Unfortunately the Boobooks wont be making a WA trip this next winter.
Arrived home after last trip to find I have not only a L/E cataract (to be attended to early '17) but a developing cataract in my R/E and just adding to my woes, optic pressures of 40+ which means glaucoma.
Specialist opthamologist tried to have us cancel Sept. UK trip but I was determined we should go, may not get another chance. So to be on the safe side pupil drainage holes were zapped by laser and twice daily eye drops which are also a PITA, side effects include skin problems and heart fluctuations.
We wish everyone in the group a very successful meet and may the Weather Gods be more kind than in the past.

Wow - that's impressive.

Nothing above 30 would be good but also less rain than a heavy dew. And only enough of a breeze to keep the flies away and to cool the brow. Is that ok? Have I missed anything?

Hi Everyone,

Just wanting to let you all know where we are up to..

We had send off letters for permission to detect around the area being plan A before we went away, but we have only had one reply back and we are waiting for 2 more replies to give us a large enough area for everyone to detect.

So we are now working on plan B, which we have sent an email off requesting permission to detect on
their leases.

No worries we still have a Plan C and D before I give up...lol

We hope everyone has paid their APLA membership as we will need a copy of your Miners Right, APLA membership card on both sides and Driver License. Plus I will be putting up some forms later that will need to be completed and returned back to us.

I have already received our first item for a raffle today.. Which we think is a great one.

Looking forward to catching up with everyone.

Cheers Laurie and Roz

Hi Everyone,

We have finally received permission from St Barbara to detect on a few of their Leases. The leases we have
are M37/599, E37/917, M37/600.

I am also waiting for another area that may work out better, however I am still waiting for their confirmation as I have requested 2 areas because 1 area will not be accessible if it rains and the other area will be ok.

Hi Ted,

There is a very faint track off the Agnew Rd which some friend put through a few years ago, this track is just through open flat pains with not a lot of bush. It is just south of the track to Four Acres. I will have to log the track and send co-ord to you when we get over there this year, as we will be in Leonora by the 15th March.

However this area will be out if we get rain as they close the Agnew Road when wet. Even last year the road was closed and some people traveled down it from Agnew and said it was not wet and they were blowing up dust...

However, We are waiting to hear from Saracen regarding permission to detect in another area if we
get rain. We're trying to cover all basis.

Cheers

Cheers

Laurie and Roz

I apologise for the tension on the forum and I hope everyone can join in and have a great time at the meet.

Cheers Roz

Hi Bards,

You put this comment up in an earlier post.

"put me on the list, I have purchases a wet suit for the next meet, water wings, flippers, snorkel, just kidding .... John .... "

I think this comment might be right. lol

I have seen some photo's today of Kal with flood waters and a Leonora Police car bogged in the mud .

We are lucky we still have a few months to go.

Hi everyone,

I realise some of you are still probable waiting for their 2017 APLA Membership cards to arrive.

Also I'm not sure how many members have been checking this site, so if you know anyone on the list I would appreciate
if you can give them a reminder to send me a copy of their documents only and the St Barb form with all the other information they require. As I am hoping to get this done before we leave home on the 1st March for WA.

Once I receive everyone documents I than sent them off to St Barbara so they can issue the Prospectors Agreements that need to be sign and returned back to St Barbs before we get access to their leases.

Thanking everyone

Laurie and Roz

Hi Bards,

I was thinking that might still be the case people waiting for the APLA membership cards.

Lets hope you get a lot of hot weather over there to dry everything out before our meet. I am still working on another plan for our meet just in case the Goldfields get the same weather as last year. lol

Looking forward to catching up.. Laurie got a new toy last week GPZ7000 but it looks like he will not get to try it
out until we get over to WA.

Cheers

Hi Tony,

I don't think we will have time to try the 7000 out before we get away. We don't have the luxury of a 5 min drive to have a detect :D , the closest gold area is at least 5 hour drive away. However we keep looking to see if we can fit in a 3 days trip
between appointments, packing final tidy up of the yard and house ect....

At least we can have a bit of a breather in Leonora before heading out bush..

I really hope you are right on that weather forecast.

Cheers Laurie and Roz

Hi Members,

Now that I have nearly everyone paperwork I will be sending them off to St Barbs for them the start issuing
their Prospectors Agreements which they will send back for everyone to sign. Once signed they need to be emailed back to St Barbs.

I have been trying to work at the best options.

1. Who would be ok if I forward your emails to St Barbs which will show your email address and St Barbs can send your
agreements directly back to you where you can sign the Agreement and send direct back to St Barbs.

2. When I forward your emails to St Barb I can delete your email address, then I can send the Agreement to
everyone to sign and them send them back to me to forward on to St Barbs on your behalf.

I am ok with either options.

Hi Members,

I have just received two items so far for our meet, we were thinking of taking the camp back to basic. However the 2 items I have received are excellent so if everyone is happy I think we should sell raffle tickets for any major items to raise
money for the Royal Flying Doctors as we have in the previous 2 years.

The items I have received so far are:

Raffle items.

Garret Pro Pointer II. From Goanna Gold Detectors Greta NSW .
Nugget Finder 14 x 7 or 9?? Evolution Coil. from Nugget Finder.

General Giveaways.

Cap, Video on the Cape, and Sleveless fishing shirt From All 4 Wheel Adventure.

I have also contacted quite a few other companies and just waiting to see what turns up.

Plus if anyone want to add something to the Giveaways they would be appreciated.

This all makes for good fun around the campfire. ;)

Cheers Laurie and Roz

Hi Roz,

I think the second option would be better as then you will have all the signatures together.
That way you can see that all attending have sent the signatures to you otherwise some may go astray.

Either way is OK with me.
Cheers,

Ted

I'm happy either way as well. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. What ever is best in your eyes is good for us.

Hi Everyone,

The start date of the meet is on Saturday 13th May and will finish on Sunday 21st May.

I was trying to get some more leases in another area as well with Saracen, and apparently as part of their approval
they contact the Station owner to check if we have got permission to camp and detect on the station before
they even look at your request. (This is a first)..

Well I had send an email back Before Christmas just advising the station owner that we are arranging a meet from
the 13th May and I would let him know as soon as we know exactly what we were doing.

Now to cut a long story short it was suggested I contact the station owner as there will be a conflict of interest on
these dates. :'( :'( It turns out that they are mustering during this time. So after a lot of text messages back and forth the Station owner it is ok for us to staying in the area we already have permission for. YAAA

I am still trying to obtain some other leases just in case we have a wet year on the same station because if it rains
we will not have access to the St Barbara Leases.

All I can say is you got to laugh. :D :D :D :D :D :D

Looking forward to catching up with the old members and meeting the new members.

Cheers

Laurie and Roz
