Hello to all,
I was first introduced to prospecting and metal detecting when working at Newman WA in 1990 and was fortunate to have met a bloke who showed me the Pilbara block, the ropes and even loaned me a 17000.
On my return to the NW in late 2000, my good wife armed me with a 2200 and enough leave passes to get back into the search for gold.
Being convinced that I must have been missing the edge I upgraded to a 3000 and am very happy with its performance. My preferred coil is the 24x12 Coiltek DD Pro UFO as it provides good ground coverage, the ability to penetrate reasonably tight spinifex and a great balance between depth and sensitivity. Although having many more misses than hits my detecting gear owes me nothing and still holds a few credits.
I took a change of direction a few years back and after 25 years in the regular Army have taken a role in safety within the mining industry.
I enjoy getting out in the bush, scratching about and putting my research, skills and luck to the test.
