Hello
Congratulation Kath for your story.

Me too,I have a story in the Yearbook.(The French Connection 4.)

Today I found out I was on the cover of a French magazine. They had organized a photo competition, concerning picture on detecting for the cover of their magazine .

I took the third place.
Twice in a magazine, in a week, will have to slow it down a bit. :ph43r:

Hi Jon,

I couldn't find anything about any 4500, but I'll take your word for it. I've bought some old gold and treasure mags from Ebay but all the pages were stuck together.

Morning Dave,
Even better value for one lucky subscriber every year who picks up the detector in the draw.
Actually must be just about my turn, have been subscribing from the early 90's. :D

Anyway there's some good reading and you can refer back to info at any time.

Good luck

Hello,Nuggetykath-68

I dont get paid for my articles.
But in return I have asked them to send me GGT here in France for free.
It comes more or less to the same as getting paid, since I dont have to send money for the subscription, and with the postage for them to send the magazine to France, it comes close to the amount they pay

I have written four stories, and for three years have received GGT for free.
Have had no hassle,on that side. :)

For the French magazines I do the same.
When I go to Paris to see the publishers, they even invite me to the restaurant for a meal, and we have a good time talking about our hobby together.
I write a story, when the subscription is close to the end.

Altogether,I have written four stories for GGT,and six for the magazine's here in France.

Bye
dom

Too Good!

Congratulations both Kath & Dom.

Kath, sometimes it can be a couple of months before you receive your payment for your article. I know a few years back I had an article printed and it was a while before I received their cheque but it did arrive.

Cheers

I must have read your articals, the latest I enjoyed very much indeed.
Thanks for posting the mag covers Dom. :D

Hi Lyn, many thanks for your reply. No worries about the money arriving so that's nice as a lot keep asking if I had been paid!! Are you off detecting in the future? Might be like most of us & waiting for it to become cooler!! B)

Hi Kath

Yes, Chris & I will be leaving home and travelling to WA around 1 May this year. Just gotta keep an eye on Chris - he was working himself to a skeleton (and he is pretty much one of those now!) in the heat. He needs to keep some energy in reserve for our trip. Anyway that scared the living daylights out of him so he is taking things a little more easy now.

Giving our old Landcruiser the usual big service and has finished the postie bike now. We're so looking forward to getting away again. We will be staying with a couple of friends in Kalgoorlie for a couple of nights before we head out bush. If we don't get to meet folks on our way through - we are sure as hell gonna spend some time on our way back to try and meet some of you folks.

We take about 3 sleeps to get across 'the paddock'. Just take things easy and we are off the road before dark. Too much of a risk with the skippys etc about.

Cheers
Lyn

Hi Lyn,

Sounds like Chris has had a health scare so sure hope he is well on the mend!
Has the postie bike just been finished or have you had a chance to try it out bush? If so what did you think of it? Do you have one each?

Good idea taking it easy with the travelling alright, the wildlife can be a bit of a worry.

Yep we always keep a look out when out detecting in case we are lucky enough to meet others from this forum...good to put a face to the words!

Hope you have a good trip over to W.A. & the gold welcomes you both. :D :D

Cheers,
Kath

Hi Kath

We used the bike last year in WA. It was just fantastic for Chris. I even enjoyed my doubles! Chris has rotten emphysema Kath and using the bike gives him a bit more use of his muscles (that he never knew he had he reckoned!). Never did much detecting at all last year but says he is going to give it a fair old go this year.

Hi Gary

We will be travelling in our old faithful 1986 Hj60 Landcruiser and towing a Millard Poptop van. We stop frequently for me to have a walk around and a quick nicotine fix. Also like our cuppa. Be great to meet on the road somewhere.

Right now I'm a full blown student with OziExplorer so hopefully will have that all set up in the car and when we travel home I won't need to look in my diary for the best overnight stops for us :D . Not to mention that I can play a few games of cards on the puter whilst we are driving along those long uninteresting roads. B)

Cheers

Sorry to hear of Chris's health Lyn. Good on him for still doing the detecting & good luck.

Wondering how two of you sit on the postie bike with all the detecting gear!!! The mind boggles but sure sounds like fun!!.

Kath

Hi Kath

Chris doesn't have his detecting gear on when he is dropping me off. (Well it was that way last year  ). When Chris is toodling off somewhere he takes my seat off and puts the faithful milk crate on the back to carry his gear.

Saves a lot on fuel as it runs around for many kilometres on a very small amount of petrol.

Cheers
Lyn
