Hi Everyone
With the financial hard times ahead, and the gold price that is very high,do you think this year maybe the busiest times in the WA goldfields as far as mum and dad prospectors??
This year I think we will have a huge influx of people chasing gold.

What are your thoughts?????

Evening Jon,
The gold price is encouraging and probably will entice more to venture out and try to dig a nug or three.
Not so much the "Mums & Dads" but we "Grey Nomads" will be trying to shore up our disappearing nest egg.

Won't go into detail, however I worked for a company whose CEO called for a salary freeze and he was going to take an immediate 10% salary cut back in the early 90's.
Yes 10% cut on a $5 million/year salary??? HOWEVER he still retained his bonus?
His earnings for that year was around $20 million.

Telling myself not to stress here and think about when Summer ends and the temperatures drop and once again we can enjoy our wonderful outback.
Cheers
Peter

Good luck & safe travels
Peter

G-Day Jon,

This would depend on a lot of factors, but the main thing is you have to spend to make as they say.

Costs, specially for those coming from the other states to the best State, even so it still requires a fair bit of outlay and research to make a successful trip.

Also they now have to bear in mind that a lot of the mining companies are now hunting the small prospector off areas that used to be tolerated in the past.

Take into consideration the cost of a detector, fuel, time spent researching areas and assocciated costs of permits.

I just envy Gypsy living right in the middle of it all, hey but thems the breaks, in just in another 2 years my time will be my own to do as I like when I like.

But thems my thoughts Jon.

Cheers,

Hi Peter TWA
Yes I do think there are a lot of detectors that have been sitting idle that will get dusted off and put to use this year, also I think there might be an increase in interstate prospectors, those that already have the equipment.
I have already had a phone call from a friend i was prospecting with last year, wanting me to pick him up at the perth airport, and then heading out,his airfair was $420 return to Melb.
I could be wrong will just have to wait and see,I just love getting out there and meeting new people, and enjoying the different country,if i find gold then thats a bonus. :D :D :D

Hello,

The gold price is currently $1460. WOW, that's a pretty penny! and it's going higher - way higher, according to many annalists. That kind of moolar would make more people interested in prospecting, for sure.

Many people with a mortgage and other debt won't have the time or money to risk.
Others with no debts or mortgage and no job may decide to prospect but more likely sit in there comfortable homes and watch tv.
Some of the ones that do venture out would soon realize that it's not easy. Without the knowledge and the research your chances of finding anything meaningful is minimal.
They'll run home to mother after a couple of weeks!
Many people have never been bush or even know what a shovel is.

It may take me years and a lot of bucks to fully know what I'm doing. Thanks to this web site I'm fast tracking my knowledge and it probably already saved me years of trying to work it out for myself. Thanks all!

This is the Golden Age and probably the best opportunity we are going to get in our lifetimes. LOW and SLOW bros!
