Hi All My name is Phil and I have been back detecting for approx 2 years. (After a 10 year break - still got my GT16000 in the shed somewhere) We have recently moved from the Pilbara, where I worked on a minesite, back to Perth to join the rat race - high school main reason. I work now on a FIFO gold minesite - Telfer. I first bought a 3500 and have used it successfully over the last two years, finding approx 6 Oz. I sold my 3500 straight after spending 3 days detecting with a semi pro around the Websters area late last year. (He was using a 4500). I shall be purchasing my 45/NF setup when I find a good one for sale - ready for this season. I have followed many forums and have found this the most friendly. Peter (AKA Nightjar) lives just around the corner and we have already caught up - thanks for showing me your gear, will catch up again soon. I do more research time on the computer, than swinging in the field. It has worked for me so far, especially in finding new areas. I use a laptop in the vehicle, running GE plus with cached areas of where I am going, connected to a garmin GPS for realtime positioning. I find I can overlay heaps of info(dead tenements, minedex, tengraph etc). Looking forward to the new season. Good luck to everyone, I hope we all find a bit of yella out there!! |

Welcome to the forum Phil, Have just got your email, thanks for the Google Earth tip. Now that you will be moving back to your own home soon, no doubt we will catch up when you get back into your shed and begin building your dryblower. Hope you have the co-ords for the info you have. :ph43r: Damn pity you can't make the Celia meet. Cheers Peter |
