Hello

Here is a nice find, I made on sunday.

I had made a similar find, towards the end of 2007
But this one is in better condition.
Remember, the coin was made between 10/24 AC.

And more luck, when it was lost.It had not circulated much.

Bye

Hi Dom,

Unbelievable find, especially in Australia. I wonder if a kid dropped his fathers coin collection there. What do you reckon the story is?
Thanks for the the look see.

Dave

That is an outstanding find in such good condition, fantastic.

No doubt one of the older members of this forum lost that back when women used to peel and de-seed grapes for them at that very vinyard. Back in the days of wooden divining rod detectors.

Seriously, congratulations that is an amazing find

Hello

Nuggetykath, yes it was found in the vineyards.
I ask permission of the landowners before I do any detecting. That way there is no hassle.
Because there is a bit of a fight here in France between the Archeologists and the detecting as a hobby. They want it to be banned.
Probably because a few of them went detecting on Archeologist sites, which is forbidden.

Dave, the story behind the coin,is that the vineyard was probably worked by the Romans
or a Roman village was nearby, and they worked the ground.

From,History. It is said that the Romans loved this part of France. It was there little Rome, and the vine was good.A river flows not far from here,so they had water.
By the way in this river about 5 km from where I live, carries Gold.
I stop detecting in summer, and go panning.
Last year I found 11gr of gold flakes, nuggets are very rare.

Probably, once again .Because since the Roman & Celtic period it has been panned by them, the best is gone
But they left us coins in exchange,so the deal is okay.
:D
Cheers
dom
