In my past outings I have found some large dig holes. Has anyone found anything similar?

Along with each picture is a discription of area where found and and surrounds.

This hole was on the side of a small gully (approx 5m up the bank from the wash). It was over 1km from any workings and had 3 other holes next to it (within an area 3mx3m). No obvious other dig holes anywhere, in iron stone/coffee rock country with very little quartz anywhere. Some new rubbish (beer cans) and some old 9v square batteries (early eighties - Garrets?). I chained area for over an hour and found no gold.

This hole was in a series of holes (6-8) in a tight line running hard along one side of a quartz contact (10m) on the side of a gentle sloping white quartz hill. Workings/scrapings and dryblowings with in 500m all round. I found approx 5g worth of small pieces above this area in a short time.

This hole was also in the same area (within 2 kms) as last but by itself. (other than the smaller hole on right) It looks like a bungara has made it it's home by hollowing it out more. Chained area all around for no more gold.

Make you wonder what came out of these holes?

Anyone dug one of these monster holes before, and what did you get?

I'd love to have a big target after I'd hit the cap/bottom - must give you a great buz, even if you know your up for a few hours crowbaring. It can only really be one thing??

Cheers

Phil

Morning Phil,
My guess, all these holes are the result of bungarras trying to make a home. The last pic looks very much like a natural gnamma hole, a natural ocurrence.

Cheers

Hi Peter

You may be right with the last photo, but there was pick/crowbar marks on the edges of the first two?

The first two were quite distinctly, rectangular. The last round.

Cheers

Phil
