Hi Louis, Welcome to the forum and to detecting, you will find heaps of good information on here that will certainly assist you in improving your detecting skills. Dont be so down hearted in finding bullets, nails and other objects as this just proves that the area hasnt been done over all that well, and if its any consolation you may have been the first to find it since it was left there, it could have just as easily have been a gold nugget. keep at it. Cheers, Trevor. |

Hi Louise, Welcome to the forum. Don't be shy in posting questions as you will find this is a very friendly site & we all had to learn somewhere, so I hope you will achieve success in the near future. Above all in the game of metal detecting for gold you must have patience & do a lot of research to have a good chance of finding those allusive nuggets. Cheers Ted

Hi Louis Welcome I dont worry about bullets and nails it just means others are not thorough enough when they search.... that gives you a chance. Have a look at this picture; ![]() See the two chain marks either side of the stick in the ground. That stick was put there to indicate where the detectorist found a piece of gold - right in between two chain marks. the key is to be thorough and keep the coil low and slow All the best Bill PS the idiot who was chaining was me |
