Hi all, i have just put a 4500 on order, i should have bought one a few months back when i was thinking about it as i could have had one straight away, now i am on a 4 week waiting list, but a thought has come into my mind, with so many on order all over the place do you think they will be rushing the manufacture of them and maybe sacrificing the quality for quantity for a fast prodution to keep up with orders? cheers Kris |

Hi Kris, This info sure is a surprise, with the next generation Minelab coming off the assembly line in the near future you would think there would not be a waiting list to pick up a 4500?? Back from our recent trip, not a succesful trip but there is always the next one, better luck next time. Cheers Peter |

Hi Kris, I was talking to a person in the Minelab Service department just yesterday & he was relating to all the changes that are going on with Minelab Industries since Codan have taken over the company. There is confusion everywhere so as far as servicing of existing units due to spare parts now being moved out of the service section to another location which is causing delays in repairs. As far as orders go this confusion could be causing the delay so there could be a long wait. Also he said there is nothing he has heard as far as a new model coming out onto the market in the near future. So who can believe the rumours flying around. Cheers Ted |

Hi Peter, yes it is a surprise about the hold up but while the 4500 are still selling so hot i dont think they will bring a new one out now until next season???? My son James said he spotted you in Coolgardie the other day he rang me to stay at home incase you were coming around or try ringing us , but you must have been in a hurry to get back to the big smoke. anyway glad you had a safe trip. cheers Kris |

Hi Kris.good to hear you have ordered your 45. It is a problem at the moment with demand outstripping production rates. i think part of the reason is the plain fact that the 45 is such a good machine, and a lot of people have held off on getting one until a mate or partner got one first. Now that they have seen their friends cleaning up on the gold on areas they have been over with earlier models and thought where thrashed and get good gold, they are all now very keen to get a GPX4500. the industry is now seing very large orders for the 45 and unfortunatly this is causing some delays of 1 - 2 weeks, depending of course on which dealer you choose to order your 45 from. We are being told that the "back log" of orders is going to be cleared in the very short future, so maybe your 4 week wait will be shorter which would be great news to many who are eagerly awaiting their machines. All in All i'm sure with your hit rate kris quit a few kilo's will fall prey to you this and next season. P.S hope you got a good price for your 4500 and you continue to have a gr8 season out on the gold. regards. pete. |

hi Gypsy, glad to hear uu are getting a 4500, i had a 3500 before i got the 4500, loved the 3500, but am now getting to grips with the 4500 and i now regards it at least as highly as my previous 3500. uu wont be sorry !! my 4500 went back after a few months because of an unstable threshold, now that its back i have to wave my pick over it sometimes to make sure its working !!! it is definately a quantum leap from the 3500 and a very steep learning curve (for me anyway) but the sensitivity is just mind blowing. will probably be over your way at the beginning of october (yep my second trip in a few months) mainly for the wild flowers for the boss to see (but the 4500 will be under the van bed) have fun, regards, gary |

Good luck Kris, You won't be disappointed with this machine. Go easy on the Deep/Enhance if searching new area, probably better off General/Enhance when using the monos. ***Remember the salt/Cancel problem with the 4000/ Mono*** This also applies to the 4500.Cheers Peter |
