The week it was and happy with the finds. The first two day was a spot I had been researching for a while now and just had to get up there to give it a go and the area was remote and new it was going to be hard going to get into it well once I was there I was right the Brush bush was thick and not easy to get thought to get to the reefs that I had researched----Once I was there the ground was the best and couldn't wait to find the first bit as I moved about the first thing I seen was there were no real signs of anyone else putting in any time in here and then I came across 2 very old AA batteries then a 9volt as well it has been a long time since anyone had had a go here and then another 10min's I found the old claim pegs 1985 you ripper then found 3 small 10x15 by 1Ft deep surface patch that they must of found the gold in and was hoping there was more to be found well there was a nice little patch just above it . ![]() This spot still will have more to give so will be back before it gets to hot to walk in. Then left there and meet up with Bazza for two days and got 3 bits. ![]() Then it was of to meet the Maryborough group till sunday and before you know it it was over. here is the finds of the weeks. ![]() as well these two coins I got on the way home. |

Nice finds Detrack. I didn't know there were any new spots left in Victoria. Goes to show it pays to do your homework. The Inglewood gold looks a lot different to the other. Why would that be? Cheers Dave |

Thanks All Golddreamer the patch find the gold had not travelled and was only about 25 mtrs away from the reef on the north side of the reef on a slow falling slope to the gully Just above on the reef line there is two small mine hole's only about 1.5 mtrs deep so they must of looked and said no gold here and moved on and yet the gold was about 25mtrs just below that and the rocks on the surface were not water worn very rough mybe like the old Prospectors that dug the hole on there patch is were the old time Miners should of looked lower down. I was going to take some Picture of the Rocks and soil Type as I have found in the pasted that this type of info would be alot more helpful to the every day prospector to see what type of ground to look for so next time out I will take some . Over the years I have walked on some spots and study the ground and see some of the soil type's and say to myself there is gold here I can feel it and by putting the time in out it come's so if I can cheer that with others they may just pick it up what to look for. Yes every area is not the same and that what makes it so hard to learn. So were know the first find was on high ground close to the Reef on a slow slope the other gold was also on high ground but the Reef was well up the gully and those 3 bits were not in the gully but high on the steep banks so 40 to 60 mtrs from the reef that cross the gully and the bits show the water worn as it moved down. It is not easy to try a nut it out to were the gold should of traveled but as I do I look the soil type as to intrapment for the gold if that make cents. PS: I will do a 3D map to give you a idear on were I like to look the most off reef line's David |

Hi David, Your help over the various forums is very generous. I'm sure we all look forward to your posts as there is always something to learn and geology-in layman's terms-is always keenly sort after. Keep up the great work Robert |

Robert I try to help at the best of time but time does get the better of and these days not much of it. By this Image shows that there is two reef line's one is high on the ridge at the top of the gully and then there is the other one that is half way down the gully This is looking North ![]() Q:Out of these reefs what would be your favorite my is the reef that is half way down the gully and you may ask why and I look at it like this and what I have found IN the past that any gold that has come of the reef that high up tends to leave little gold off it on the high banks as it has hit the gully sooner due to its weight. Now what I like about the reef down the gully is that the gully you see runs from the High ground which is west and runs down the gully to east and the reef has been wash away over time spreading the gold if it is a gold bearing high along the banks till it hit the lower ground and it is there were I look for the good soil type for the imtrapment of the gold and there is alot more ground to work in your search The Orange area is the search area. This is looking East to west ![]() This shot is looking West down the gully to the East. ![]() David |
