Greetings all-

I have read with more than a little interest about nuggets in salt lakes, especially from Janet, the "Lady Of The Lakes." (Web search: Janet's Gold Nuggets)

WA has vast salt lakes within the goldfields, the potential for gold detecting must be virtually limitless.

Can you have success with standard DD and mono coils, or is it essential to have salt-dedicated coils?

Mine is a SD2200D.

Hi Mr W

I am no expert on detecting salt lakes, in fact I have never tried. But on what I have read I think you will need a salt coil or an anti interference coil, both made by Coiltek I believe.

I reckon the noise will drive you nuts otherwise. There are plenty of people that may be able to give you specific advice on your question.

Good luck and cheers dave

I do have a salt coil but unfortunately, so far, it has had little use as there is always water in the lakes when we venture out! :'( :-/

A few years ago, before I had the salt coil, I DID detect with a DD coil on a lake & it was pretty good! IF I recall correctly I was
using the sd2200d. I DID find some nugs & sometimes had interference but I really enjoyed detecting on the lake & hence bought
the salt coil & look forward to using it when I am able. :D :D :D :D

Janets web site I think is fantastic!! Gosh her & her sister had some very humourous experiences!! BUT detecting when temps
are soooo high does not appeal to me!! You have to admire those ladies!! ;)

Good luck Mr Walker, hope you also enjoy lake detecting & get some gold.

Cheers,
Kath
