Hello members,
NOT HAPPY!!!!! Geocities has closed and Yahoo have taken over and assured me that my site http://www.geocities.com/onyx1551/gold_prospecting.html would be preserved.
You'll note my signature and avatar have disappeared from here because the images were stored on my site.....
Have contacted them to try and sort this mess out, failing this years of work has disappeared into cyber space...
I do have a back up of the "html" somewhere this maybe of help, TED, I'll need your help

Peter

You can also try to recover site from here Peter

http://www.archive.org/web/geocities.php

You may be able to find an archive of your visible web pages on the Internet Archive.

The Internet Archive, a nonprofit founded to build an Internet library and archive the public Web, has been indexing GeoCities pages for years as part of its normal collection efforts, and worked to archive as many GeoCities web sites as possible before GeoCities closed on October 26, 2009.

To see if your site was archived, please visit the Internet Archive GeoCities site and enter your GeoCities web address in the search field provided.

Hi Kris,

Good suggestion. His data is still there so luckily that has not been lost.
Just a matter of transferring it over to the new site which is in the process of being done.
I've setup Frontpage for Peter to have a play around with & when all is OK then backup
onto Frontpage.
That's where my website backup is.

Cheers

Ted

great stuff Ted and Peter,
glad it was there, i had lost a few of my image files while uploading across to frontpage,
so make sure Peter you have the page limit to max and kb size of site to max so every little bit gets uploaded
to frontpage.

Hi Kris,
Found the archive page but it is way outdated, info is not current.
"Frontpage" has gone off into cyber, but I'm currently reeling it in, would much rather be out there with my little minelab, "flick the switch" and go and all this puta business would be soon forgotten.
I'm going to be "FOUL" by morning because this is not going to beat me. ^o) :'(  :o
Good luck & safe travels
Peter

Morning all,
Well it is beginning to happen, have transferred a little of the data (mainly photographs) to my new site.

http://goldprospectingaustralia.net/

After a great deal of frustration I finally found out that it wasn't a simple transfer of data because I built my old site by writing all the HTML myself and not using Geocities site builder. Because of this the data became corrupted during transfer.
Anyway through the coming summer I will rebuild the site, a percentage of it I will be able to "copy" & "paste" from saved data the other I'll have to do the hard yards again.

You may still need to access it from my old address until the search engines find it.

Cheers
