G'Day all

I will be heading out to Cobra Stn in the Gascoyne soon for a few days detecting.
Havn't been out there detecting before, but apparently it was one of the first areas in the Gascoyne where gold was mined.
I know there is a dry blowing patch, and another called McCarthy's.
Has anyone done any good out there? Any tips appreciated.

Cheers,
Mr Walker

Havent been out that way yet just starting to get back into detecting, but I have been up near Mangaroon once with no success yet but the area looked good.
Will be heading out there again soon for a bit more practice with my 4500 only had it for 3 weeks so still got the L plates on, Last detector I used was a GP 18000 many years ago in the Pilbara.
Now located in Carnarvon so will be heading out that way eventually, be good to hear how you go but just check if you are on the guy from Cobra's lease as I herd a wisper that he isn't going to let anyone back on his lease.

Thanks for that Hendo, your story is similar to mine (also a fellow Carnarvon-ite).
Very interesting geology up at Mangaroon. Had my first detecting trip there about 6 weeks ago, no early retirement for me but had fun trying.

I'll bear in mind about the lease situation at Cobra.
I'd rather do some specking away from others and there patches anyway, don't need the potential for trouble.

Hope you enjoy this site as much as I have, definitely the very best for friendly informative people with similar interests.

Morning Hendo/Mr Walker,
It is very encouraging to see members are finding what they are looking for and new members joining in and posting.
Overall we have very a great community and beginning this year we have begun to put names to faces with two successful trips away.
Looking forward to 2010 and more gatherings.
Hope to see many more of your postings as you move around your area.

Cheers
Peter
Good luck & safe travels
