Hi there to all, How are you, I am new to this forum and also to detecting. I have gone out a few times here in Victoria and have found nothing yet(I LIE LOTS AND LOTS OF BULLETS AND NAILS ). Also just reading a few books here and there to try and get some knowledge about gold and gold history in Australia and I love being out in the Australian bush.I have a gp 3500 and the coils I have right know are the standard 11" minelab coil, A coiltek 10'" elliptical coil and a coiltek 14" dd coil. And most of the time I dream of the day i will get to have my first trip to w.a. Is it really as good as they say in W.A. Is it still possible to live off what you find up there . Do alot of people in australia detect for a living ?Is it a silly dream to become a fulltime prospector ? As you can see I have about 1 million question and still have alot to learn so I hope to get to know you all very soon for now take care all

Welcome to the forum Goldbug, You have all the necessary equipment to find gold and with your positive attitude it will only be time before you find your first gold. Keep researching old alluvial areas within your reach and put in some time swinging your coil. Don't be disallusioned that gold is laying around in WA waiting to be picked up, it is spread over 1000's of square kilometres of gold bearing ground and research is again required to give yourself the greatest chance of finding gold. There are many professional prospectors out on the goldfields however the majority of them have another means of income, it would not be easy to live off your finds. Have fun and enjoy your new hobby for the time being. Hope to see a pic of your first gold soon. Cheers Peter |

Hi Goldbug, Welcome to the forum. As Peter(Nightjar) commented.....it all comes down to research which will lower the odds of you finding gold. Hope your stay here is a rewarding one & don't be afraid to ask questions. There are a lot of well experienced members on the this forum who will only be to happy to answer them. Cheers Ted |
