G'day all.

Found this great australian online site for buying
totally metal free tactical detecting boots.

My favourites are the "Bates" brand.

Good luck to all our members in 2010. ;) ;) B) ;)

Hi Peter,

I find the 'Rivers Stores' give good value for money with their footware.

They can be found here: http://www.rivers.com.au/

We got Chris a pair of Mack Boots from the Detecting store in Burt Street? Boulder - $150 and he says they are just like slippers to wear. The good thing about them is for Chris they are lace ups as he has trouble with the elastic sided ones with his socks slipping down into the boot all the time.

With the Mack boots he doesn't have that problem and there is no metal in them at all. If I am lucky enough I might get a pair next year also.

Hope everyone has a safe new year's eve. Lots of good things happening in 2010.

Cheers
Lyn

Hi Lyn,
Chris probably won't need them for a few years now he has his Mack boots however if he wants to swap back to slip-ons (Rivers/Blundstone etc) the socks to wear are the "Explorer" brand which can be bought from many stores, Woolies, K-Mart, Target etc etc.
These socks are thick very comfortable and your feet don't sweat, wore them with "Elastic sided boots" in my line of work for past 30+ years and never had a problem with slipping socks.
They can be expensive but if you are patient and wait for the sales you won't be disappointed.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Peter

Hi Peter

Yes thanks we only wear the explorer socks but because Chris has lost so much weight I think the slip-on boots that he had became too large for his feet hence his socks kept slipping down. (In the old days my boys used to get detention if their socks were down around their ankles lol).

I don't have any problem with the socks slipping in my boots but I guess my feet and legs are much larger lol.

I usually get quite a few pairs of explorer socks when they come on special. Managed to get a good deal in Woollies in Kal about 3 years ago. They certainly are good socks and worth their money.

Cheers
Lyn
