Hi all found a micro patch a few weeks ago. Found 26 nuggets for 1/2oz most of the gold was within a 3mx3m square. I was using a 11 mono in enhance. I think I got all I could with this coil but was wondering would it be worth going back witha smaller coil. I have a old 10" coiltec eleptical coil DD and was going to use the sensitive extra setings or should i run this coil in mono. anyone have any surgestions.

As the gold was this concentrated should I try and find the source, should I pan some of the ground at the depth I took the gold at to see if their are fines. some of the gold was sharp but other pieces were rounded even though the gold seemed to have originated from the same source.

Anybody got any idea's or is it just a coincerdence that the gold was this concentrated. Ie junction of 2 old creek systems?

Morning Captain,
We borrowed a 11" ML Commander Mono to trial with our GPX-4500 on our last trip in 2009.
Were amazed with results, recovering gold from areas we thought were flogged to death.
Like you my partner recovered about 40 small nugs from an area the size of the average house.
Then also like you about 30 pieces in the "V" where two creeks met.
We had randomly dry blown this area in the past for a return that didn't warrant the hours of hard digging.
Unless you have a dry blower panning the area maybe a big disappointment. The 8" Mono is a little vacuum cleaner and worth a run over the area.
Then again regarding sampling the area with a pan, you have nothing to lose, at least you won't be walking away with the question ringing around in your head.

BTW we swapped the ML supplied 11" DD's for a Mono to add to our NF/SL 16" & 20" Mono's, and are now getting very itchy feet waiting for the summer to break into cooler weather....
One of the many enjoyments of this hobby is the time spent thinking about how or where gold maybe as we walk swinging the coil.

Good luck in your new found area, looking forward to your email with the co-ords. ;) ;) ;) :D

Cheers
Peter
Good luck & safe travels
Peter

Hi Captain
Worth going back for sure with a smaller coil in an area that size there will be more small stuff.Try normal timings if you can get away with it.A mate of mine just gridded an area that i had done with the 12''mono advantage in enhance,he used a 8''mono in sens/extra and pulled another 16 grams, the area was only 6mx6m.

HI CAPTAIN,

YES, GO BACK WITH AN 8" COIL BUT I WOULD ALSO BE GOING OVER THAT AREA & AWAY FROM IT WITH A COIL LARGER THAN THE 11".

GOOD LUCK,

CHEERS,

KATH
Be kind to others & smile.
