Hi

I'm back online with my computer again but alas I can't get back onto Tengraph!

I have installed citrix 11.2 (and uninstalled several times as suggested by the help desk fellow) but every time I try to get onto tengraph I get a window which says - Do you want to open or save this file?
name: launch.ica
type: ica_auto_file, 1.50KB
from: tgol.doir.wa.gov.au

Whenever I click 'open' nothing happens and if I click 'save' it just saves to downloads and nothing else happens
I couldn't get any satisfaction from the help desk other than sometimes it takes a few installs to get accepted or that Vista is a pain in the butt (tell me something different).

I have been on the advanced section to see that the box has been ticked as suggested in the Vista help.

I had everything fine when I first bought the new laptop in October last year. The laptop was reverted back to factory settings when I received it back with the new keyboard installed so don't know what's happening.

Can only hope that some of you computer experts can get me back on the road with this.

Many thanks for your time and help.
Cheers
Lyn

Thanks Kath for your reply. I may try that . At the moment I don't have any problem with log in - I just can't get the tengrah page.

I don't believe that it can't be the problem with Vista only because I had it before I got the new keyboard and also when I was on my friend's laptop in Kalgoorlie last year I installed Tengraph onto her one without any problems. She too has Norton security - the same as I do.

Am going to keep trying today to see what comes up.

Will probably speak again to someone on the help desk in Perth also - the information I got yesterday wasn't very helpful at all.

These things are sent to try us.

Cheers
Lyn

Hi Ted
Thanks for that information. Sorry for being somewhat dumb in relation to most things about computers but I couldn't find anything in that jargon!

I spoke with someone at the help desk again today and he said that I had certainly installed the 11.2 version properly after taking me through some steps. He said they were limited to what IT help they could give but said there appears to be a problem of the file ext.ica is not associated with Citrix. He said I need to find out how to associate the extension 'ica' with citrix as it does not appear to be recognising it.

He couldn't explain why I am not able to succesfully get this working when I had it working before on Vista and it was just fine.

I wonder if you can throw any help in this line to me please.

Many thanks
Lyn

Thanks Ted

Had a look at the ica file extensions. That seemed to be just the thing to solve the problem.

However I don't have a credit card so couldn't purchase the product.

Have uninstalled the program once more and will reinstall tomorrow just to see if by chance it might work. Then will have a try at some of the things suggested on the other link you gave me.

I wonder if Laurie & Roz got their one sorted out?

Just might luck also - I saw yesterday that I could have upgraded to windows 7 as I purchased the laptop in October last year - however that offer ended on 31 January!

Gonna have a good year on the gold - I can feel it :)

Cheers

G'day Lyn

Try "Firefox" as a brouser instead of "Internet Explorer" it seems to run some things better that play up with IE

You can download Firefox for free, and can have both brousers on your computer at the same time and just choose which one you want to use.

Hi Kath

Still no joy - have no problems loggin in - just can't get past the stupid 'launch.ica' thing!

Am going to take the laptop back to factory settings tomorrow and see what happens on Monday. I believe that the mines department are doing some sort of clean up on Sunday and will be offline so hopefully on Monday I will be able to get back into tengraph.

I'm thinking there must be some sort of conflict somewhere - as I had no bother before with getting in but since I have had the computer back with the new keyboard and put the back up discs back on the trouble has started.

So I've been busy just saving what things I don't want to lose onto disc and will start back as tho' I have a new computer and just load everything back on one at a time. Will try tengraph first (after windows has done it's configuration and I have installed my security system.

Will let you know how I get on.

Thanks
Lyn

Hi Jon,
We can understand what you are going through, as we had 3 months of hell with the same problem. We won't bore you with all the details as it involved too many IT people, family and friends to list here.

In the end we found it was our norton anti virus which corrupted our computer files and cd driver.

We removed Noton anti virus 2010 and took the computer back to factory pre-set. Then we loaded another anti Virus program called Avast which is a free download, we then had no probles loading Tengraph and Citrix.

Hope this will help in some way.

Cheers Laurie & Roz :D

hi folks im a newby on this site and was reading through and my thoughts are you should take the laptpop back from where you had the key board fitted and get them to fix the problem as every thing worked befor so they must have put somthing on or missed something out on your lap that causes the problem

Hi Goldslinger

I managed to get it all fixed up thanks.

The laptop had to go back to Acer (the manufacturers). I reverted the laptop back to factory settings and then when all the Microsoft updates were loaded back on the first program I put on was Tengraph and it worked straight away. I am fairly certain there must have been some conflict happening when I loaded the back-up discs on. So I didn't use them the next time and it all worked just fine.

I am sure you will enjoy this forum, there is a wealth of knowledge and help in any kind of direction and a great bunch of folks.

Cheers
Lyn
