Hi all has anyone run a salt coil on the 4500. I assume you would have the rx switch on the DD setting but what about the rest of the settings. Would you use enhance, or go into special sensitive extra.

In regards to ground balance would you run in fixed once balanced or use tracking.

Any ideas or practical experiances would be great. I,m looking at going to a place where its as noisy as hell, near a salt lake and trying to sus out what coils to use.

I found a few bits at this site years ago with a 2100 but it was painfull balancing in all the time and the ground was noisey as hell. I did try with the 3000 but only found 1 bit that was missed under a salt bush.

any surgestions on setting greatly appreciated
thanks in advance.

hi 101. First do a factory re set back to default settings. Then set Front panel FIXED. DD. SPECIAL EXTRA. GENERAL. Rear screen. Leave all settings on default exept raise the gain up around 10 - 12 max, and set motion speed to slow, finally reduce the STABILIZER to around 6 - 8 for a stable threshold. The only mistake you never want to do is run a salt coil on a 4500 in salt course settings, just allow the salt coil to knock all the interference on the head. Hope this helps out. Pete.
