i am thinking about going over to WA next winter, and am chasing a bit of info on the old ashburton gold fields.
i cannot get a lot of info into that area as of yet,i have the feeling it is not all that popular but it looks good.
i have the ten maps and a couple of the old mine sites, but getting old time info is very scarse. ^o)

Hi Reg,

You are talking about my favourite stamping ground although a lot of the area west & north west of Ashburton Downs
Station is now active mining tenements namely for maganese.
The old sites such as Dead Finish & Mount Mortimer have been well worked over but there may still be some left to find.
Haven't checked Tengraph lately for pending & El's of that area to see what's available so would advise you have a look
as I haven't prospected that ground for quite a few years.
Soldiers Secret was up for sale the last time I was up there (2009) & I have some info on this site of Top Camp which I visit
on a regular basis but you will need the tenement lease holder's permission as it is an active tenement.
Pretty rugged country so you will need to be well prepared vehicle wise to get to it.
If you are interested PM me & I'll give you a contact to apply for permission.
There is some info in Vols. 1&2 of Gold & Ghosts on the area if you can get a copy or if your local libary has one.

Cheers

Ted
