When my detector handle broke at the base we had a problem as did not have a spare handle! Also we were northwest of Meekatharra.Luckily my son had lent me an arm swing to see if it would help mith my hand problems. After a lot of thought Dick had a solution. He used the handle of the armswing, this handle fitted perfecly! BUT the ground balance on the broken handle needed placing so Dick taped it securely below the new handle & this worked perfectly. ;) ......... Yes, a spare new handle is on the list for next trip!

cheers,

Kath

Hi Kath,

We have had a similar problem with our handles on our 4500. WE ARE NOW ON OUR 3RD HANDLE IN 2 YEARS!!!! and we only detect for about 4 months a year.

The problem appears to be where the screws go through the plastic plate that is attached to the shaft. The first thing is the handle starts to become loose and starts to wobble on the shaft and on inspection there is a hairline crack just enough to make it unusable.

Our experience with the replacement handles with Minelab, have been no problem to them as the new handles have been sent out within 48 hours and have been covered under warranty.

Cheers Laurie & Roz

THE HANDLE FOR ME SNAPPED RIGHT AT THE BASE MISSING THE SCREW-LINE BUT WONDERING IF THAT HAIRLINE FRACTURE WAS NOT THERE
FOR SOMETIME AS I DO RECALL GETTING A WOBBLE! IF I FEEL A WOBBLE AGAIN I SHALL CHECK FOR HAIRLINE IMMEDIATELY, MANY THANKS. :D :D :D

Morning all,
Sounds like a close inspection of our handles is warranted, didn't realise so many fail.
I am in the habit of tipping my machine on its side to pinpoint with the NF20" Mono, this must be placing a great strain on the handle....

Good luck & safe travels
Peter
