A QUESTION FOR PETER...once apon a time many moons ago perhaps 14 odd years ago when wandering about the scrub up at wilsons(maybe it was some where else) but close to wilsons..There lived a cranky old coot with a shotgun beind 2 locked gates with no prospecting signs do not enter signs..and a sign saying if u come in here u will be shot and if i only wound u then ill shoot u again u get my drift..Anyway me being me jumped the fence and wandered up towards the house(extensive shack) to be hailed with a gruff accented voice WHAT THE F$%#*K are u doing here cant u read.BY this time i had located the voice worked out what he had said and was busy looking around for somewhere to duck if i saw anything like a rifle or shotgun...anyway after several minutes of saying sorry and trying to talk to this chap that was german or russian or something and asking the usual b/s questions like where am i who are u how much ground do u have where is ya datum and corner pegs ... we got to talking and it turns out this dude WROTE A BOOK and had several coppies at the shack...i should have bought one then and there but i dont carry my money on me when i go wandering...and the landy was about 5 ks away...
ANYWAY PETER do u know of this bloke do u know the BOOK...all i remember is that he said the gold wasnt in the first few inches it was in the CAP and under it...if i remember rightly going nth Wilsons patch right of the road gold was mostly in cap or am i mistken

Hi JH,
My first thoughts are this fella was David John (now lives in Leinster), he was the Goanna Patch finder (Nth of Wilson's Patch) and he wrote a book named "Bloody Gold."
We have been at Wilson's Patch since 1995 and he wasn't there then so I think your encounter would have been around late 80's into the 90's?
Have had a brief look here but have been unable to find it amongst my prospecting books.
Will confirm if and when I find it.

Cheers

Peter
Good luck & safe travels
