Hi all With the summer starting and weather heating up, I am preparing to do some night detecting. I was looking at some bicycle lights for mounting on my detector but all their fittings are designed to be fixed on handles that goes across in front of you. With a bit of searching I came across a bicycle pump with a fitting that I could mount on the upper shaft of the detector. Works a dream and will be tested it this weekend. It only costs me $16 at K-Mart ($11 for the pump and $5 for the torch). ![]() ![]() BTW, does anybody know, or maybe have been, to Lady Harriet in Menzies. A friend of mine is taking me there, but I want to know whether it is worthwile as I believe it has been well and truly flogged! Best Kudu |

My job which is a lot of walking around rail yards and the bush at night both down in the wheatbelt and up in the pilbarra has meant using torches hands free where possible. A head lamp has been by far the best buy i got and u can use the led ones from push bikes on your head as well. also we taped ie black tape onto our work boots small torches which gave us enough warning of holes/snakes in front of us. another thing we do which has helped us around pannawonica to find our vehicles again is attach a led red flashing light found on the back of bikes, takes two aa batteries, strap this to the highest point of your vehicle and have in strobe/flashing mode, is a lot easier to find than the static red light he had on end of aerial. |
