G'day from Hervey Bay Qld. I have been detecting for about seven years. I retired in 2003 and have had the "bug" for many years before that but no time to chase the elusive yellow. I first hired an Extreme at Clermont Qld and was lucky enough to find a small bit first day. I then purchased a 2100. During my first trip to the West I upgraded to a 3000. I have since progressed to a 4500 which I find to be magic. I have done three trips to the West and am lookng forward to my next one in 2011. I have prospected around Kalgoorlie/Coolgardie with limited success, and have done quite well around Nullagine in the North. I belong to the Coolgardie Gem and Mineral Club (A81). Kind Regards, Roger. |

Welcome to the forum Roger (Matelot). Looking forward to reading your stories and maybe seeing a few pics you took along the way. How you have found the 4500 on WA ground? Cheers Peter |

Thanks Nightjar. I find my 4500 smooth and quiet on most soils. I swing a 16" Nuggetfinder Advantage and find them both to be a good match. My detector has been "tweaked" by Minelab after I unpacked it on delivery and found that the coil connection was loose. When I rang and told them, the ML employee was not impressed and as a favour said that he would "tweak" it for me. I am only guessing but I would say that they brought it closer to "spec" or reduced the manufacturing tolerances. Electronics is voodoo stuff to me. Thanks again for the welcome, Regards Roger. |
