Hi Ladies & Gentlemen,
I am an old fellow 68 on the 5th March, in 1994 I heard from a friend that his son found a piece of gold in the dirt just 50 klm from us, I could not believe that things just lie in the dirt. I went straight to Dunolly and asked for the best detector on the market, the dealer sold me a White's Spectrum. I was scratching around with that thing for many months in the gold fields. Nothing!. Then I heard that a real gold detector was on the market, a SD2000, after 4 months waiting, I finally got the super detector in my hands. I was spending nearly every weekend with it, until the 2100 came out and found a 2grmer. I was rapped with that one, everybody elso found heaps with the 2000 except me! I think that I had a lemon! Things started to look good with the 2100, 787 nuggets for 41 oz. Then the 2200, then the extreme and then the 3000 wasn't bad either. 586 nuggets for 30oz. The 3500 was good too. Then disaster, GPX4000, modern technology , digital. Too high tech.for a bricklayer. I gave it back to the dealer after 8 days. Then the 4500, it took me a while to get the hang of it, 488 nuggets for 8.85oz. Now I run the 5000 and struggling to find a decent nugget, in 6 months the biggest one weighs only 2.24grm. I'm swinging the 12" R. NF. and the 18" R.NF. I'm still looking for a better coil than the 12" R NF. Havn't found one yet. Would love to meet you fellows one day, maybe when you have the second outing in August (or so). Greetings from Hermann.

Hi Herman,

Welcome To The Forum.
It looks like you have had a very exciting few years with some good finds along the way.
Lookin' forward to hear of your experiences in the near future.
I don't suppose you know our resident map guru David (detrackozi) who I believe hails from out Geelong way?
Cheers,

Ted

Hello Hermann,

You sound like a pro to me, what a great lot of gold you have found.
Have you ever been to WA?

I recon you would do OK over there. ;)

Good luck with your detecting in the future.

Regards Vic.John

Hi Ted, Thank you for the welcome. Yes, I know Dave the map guru, he helped me a few times setting up a 7" gps. Very helpful fellow.
Hi, Vic john, I'm definately not a Pro mate, in 16 years I have only found 1.12gm on average per day. I have been to W.A. 3 times on a guided tour, and a couple of times with somebody else. I would go again with someone who does the paperwork, I hate it. Would you take me over there? :D Cheers, Hermann.

Hi David, Sorry that you didn't win the 5000, it is not a bad machine. I did not go token hunting because I was on a mission, found 15 pieces that you missed. Sadly , only 4.97 grm. Actually with the 5000 I found sofar 309 pieces, 4 of them were over 1.5grm. So I will help you cleaning out Victoria. ;) The big ones are still there, soon to be found with the QED. hope I will get one. All the very best, Hermann.
