Hullo, Going to be Perth based soon and looking to get out back and do some prospecting trips. Did a little bit of prospecting over christmas in VIC and a few trips in NSW so not totally virginal, though my detector probably still has that new car smell about it as up until now I've never really had the time and locations to give it some propper work. I specialise in Coins and nails but looking to maybe upgrade and find a bit of Gold here and there. I guess I'm looking to say Hi..(Hi) and get some advice about Perth detector groups or if I should just head out to campsites to try meet people or just wing it after researching some likely spots. The problem with reasearch is that you can make an argument for virtually any direction from Perth, so I need to narrow my focus a bit, any advice as to where to start would be greatly appreciated, along with the level of equipment needed to give this a (semi) serious go if I intend not to be based at established campgrounds (or even if I should be thinking that way at this stage). Looking to stay safe but get out into this great country of ours, have some detecting fun and maybe who knows find some stuff. Cheers dannyD |

Hi DannyD, Welcome to the forum. I would say that when you get established here in W.A. have a look at areas in the Eastern Goldfields & Yilgarn region where the old timers found gold for a start & go from there. As I have mentioned to other newcomers there is a lot of info on this forum on where to detect & I'm sure other members here will be only to happy to help out on any questions you have. Enjoy your stay. |
