Hi all, first thank you all for the wellcome and encouragement. Went out again tdy, after reading (again) the user manual of the GPX 5000 the day before, collecting all sorts of tuning advice from all over the web, finally decided to use one of JP's recommended settings (from his new vid I think) and after almost 2 hrs, I had a signal (other than the obvious loud bullet), it was soft but clear. It turned out to be only a 0.4g.... , lost it when I scraped the first time. I detected the scraping and surround again and the signal was still there, faint but clear and on the side.I nearly threw it out a second time. It dawned on me I must have thrown away a few tiny bits like this one the last coupple of days, as I could not "see" yellow and the left over hard bits sure felt like a tiny peebles.. Learning curve, this subgrammer turned up after abt 35 hrs detecting in a span of 3 weeks, scraped/dug maybe 120 targets, mostly bullets. The area (Kanowna) is flogged and mostly with loads of trash. I decided tomorrow I will take on a trashed are, with the supplied dd coil and use "Iron reject" feature. I got previously frustrated ( as countless others) bcs of the trash, but never used the unique "Iron reject" mode. Worth a try.... Cheers DUM PS. tried to upload a picture as my Avatar, but size too big?? What can I do? |

Well done Dum, There is a new thread about discrimator in the "Minelab related info" Personally have only tried the discrimator once, now dig everything. May stand corrected however I believe the discriminator is mainly used by treasure hunters? You will need to resize your avatar to about 112 X 120 less than 15kb? Cheers Peter |

Well done Dum glad you found that nugget. Yes it sure is a learning experience, once we make a mistake & realize what we had done, we don't do it again. So good you realized that the signal WAS something & kept going until you got the target & checked it carefully as like you say the nuggets often do not look like gold. Sounds like you like the GPX5000...I haven't been able to use mine yet. Good luck & let us know when you get more nuggets!! Cheers, Kath |
