For any one who is using DMPís Geo map system the Geo map has been upgraded. DMP is running another training day on the 28th February.

Session 1 - 3pm to 5pm - very basic training, install software and get started e.g. downloading data, adding data, GPS, Screen digitising. This will get the software onto your PC

Session 2 - 5.30 to 7.30pm Advanced training such as running a query, colour by attributes etc

The Sessions will be held at the Department of Mines and Petroleum Training Room in

100 Plain St East Perth.

You can attend both courses or either of the courses -

If you wish to attend contact Noel Wilkerson 9534 6063

Prerequisite Ė a Laptop and a GPS (its best to have this so you can download all the information and software and connect to it with your GPS)

Cheers,

Ted

Nightjar

I went to the same session last year. It was very informative but I decided to stay with Oziexplorer as their system was very much still in the developing phase. They did not have a moving map facility, only a track (trail) system on where you've been. You are however, able to build your own amps if you know how to retrieve and use their database. They might have improved on it and will be interesting to know.

Best

Been trying to learn Geomap with moving map! but have found that only certain Gps units work with it. Has anyone had any success with this. I found this a bit confusing to learn for a newbie, is there a simple way to do this??

We use a USB GPS either on an Android tablet or the laptop, once you get all the "planets" aligned it works very well, it was a bit fiddly (as in settings) and some trial and error to start with.

Anyone know if DMP still run Geomap Course. Have done the other course there on tenagraph etc, but a course for Geomap only would be good.

Hi Newbie13,

To the best of my knowledge, the DMP still do the Geomap Courses every now & then.
Your best bet would be to contact them & inquire when the next one is on as some
are held at their Kalgoorlie branch.
Cheers,

Ted

I was in the DMP Kalgoorlie office today and noticed training days flyer for GSWA Training for 2016. The training is free.

Perth
9 June Thursday
27 October Thursday

Kalgoorlie
16 June Thursday
3 November Thursday

Training includes -
WAMEX
GeoVIEW WA
GeoMap WA
Data & Software Centre
Mineral drill holes & geochemistry databases
DMP website

More info & to sign up go to - www.dmp.wa.gov.au/training

I was informed that GeoVIEW is now an interactive geological map. A link is on their 'Online Systems' page.

Hope this helps.
