G'Day everyone.
After taking a stroll through this site I decided it offers some good advice to a newcomer like me.
I have a Gold Snoop Pro & a Minelab XT17000 due to budget constraints not permitting any more expenditure.
I live in the Coffs Harbour area & know the locations of a few old mine & village sites so when my ute is fixed again will be prowling through them in search of gold & artifacts. A more local activity is beachcombing with the detectors though either locals keep their pockets closed or I still have lots to learn because I have not yet had huge success.
I am a Maintenance Builder by trade but arthritis got the better of me so I now sell for a locksmith & work at our local Bunnings- a 6+ day week for me.
My other interests include 4 wheel driving, camping & writing bush poetry. Oh, & worshipping my 2 goddesses (bride & daughter.)

Don't worry - you will soon be finding heaps of lovely treasures with your machines.

If a nuggie has your name on it and you are out having a go then you will be lucky.

Cheers and thanks for introducing yourself.

Thanks for making me feel wecome.
I went to an old mine site today for an hour or so & found 3 projectiles, an old fish hook, an ols spike- around 200mm long & some miscelaneous steel but I am hoping that indicates that no-one has been there with a metal detector before.
If nothing else I enjoy seeing the Bent Wing Bats & Glow Worms which inhabit the mine & the vegetation is marvelous.
Some of the finds were in the old mullock heap near the mouth of the mine.
The history is interesting too apparently it was dug through the "Red Scheme" in the depression but may have been a payer because the trafficable part is around 175m long. It also may have been worked for so long since it was within walking distance of the local Pub.
Cheers, Keith.
