there has been a few patches out that way over the last two years or so. A couple by whites one BIG one by blacks......the patches have become confused as to their location. The small one the whites found everyone goes to.....if your on the one the blacks found you could do very well. My advice is to say nothing to nobody (ignore my double negative)....if you give much more away you'll have twenty caravan park people out there by the weekend. |

I know I'm going to sound like a tosser...but here we go again anyway! I wasn't talking about showing, I was talking about talking. One of the jobs of someone who prospects full time is to listen. People can hardly contain themselves and love to show and talk gold. You need to understand that there is every chance that I know the area better than you and can piece together info from various sources and will have a good chance of tracking down your "secret patch". Already in two posts you've given away heaps of info. Me personally...I don't care, it's only gold and I've got my hands full as it is, but there are plenty of "tyre chasers" that will track you down and clean you out. I'm not having a go at you here and I've prob gone in a different direction, but I reckon it's a good lesson to learn early on in the game. Trust no-one and say very little to anyone. The other option is to get some leases and work the ground...then your in charge. |

if it was easy then everyone would be doing it!!!! Getting the right ground isn't a give away but it's also not impossible........you just need to know the game. Whilst this is another subject entirely, I really don't understand why people who have been prospecting for awhile don't commit to getting their own ground to work. It's "real" prospecting and so much better than wearing camo clothes and ducking behind bushes. The prospector has an advantage over the mining company because of motivation and some sections of the mining act (1978) that gives the little bloke a chance. When you consider the amount of people out detecting AND bitching about having nowhere to go, there really should be A LOT of ground tied up in private leases. As an aside, it would make for a lot stronger industry. It's also a bit of paperwork and real $$$ to do it. |

HaHa just as well you cleared that up Kiss, otherwise we could have been confussed thinking you were talking about a Whites detector (what model) and then googling for a Blacks detector (what model) thinking there musta been a new one on the market. Anyhow just a bitta fun and good luck to the finder/finders. cheers dave ps: pegging some ground is a top idea. |

I agree completely with the concept of "pegging" ground, but is it really necessary? On our trip to WA this winter I applied for and was granted 2 - 10 block sect.20a permits. This provided a fairly remote area of approx. 6000ha., an adequate bit of ground to spend 3 months on. Unfortunately a large part of one permit was inaccessible due to an active haul road. Worked out a way in, but our time had run out so it waits for next year. Any gold? Yes, not a lot but still on a learning curve with this caper. Also fortunately at our age gold is not the be all and end all. Getting out (legally) into remote areas with all the challenges provides satisfaction enough. Michael |
