Find attached details of the Yagi plus pics of the completed item. I used 10mm aluminium tube for the elements & 25mm thick wall pvc tubing with a tee-piece joiner in the middle & 90° elbow attached to that at one side for the di-pole so as to assemble in two sections for easy stowage. Also used low signal loss RG58 coax cable & FME connector purchased from Jaycar Electronics. If you can get a 2 meter length of 30mm steel square box tubing the 25mm PVC tubing slides neatly inside it to use as a jig for drilling the holes. Since the last 3 elements are the same distance apart you can drill the last element hole by sliding the tube back the distance to where the last drilled hole lines up, using this method you don't need a longer length of box tubing as the total length of the antenna is more then 2 meters. I used a piece of solid nylon rod the same internal diameter of the pvc tubing to keep the boom straight & in alignment when joined together. It neatly fits into the joiner & inside the other PVC tube, with the other end glued into the tube to be joined. A spacer ring was set in position & glued so that when the two parts come together, the element distance between the joint is at the required distance.(see second pic). On a test at home where my Telstra ZTE-165 Country phone had only a 2 to 3 bar signal connection it immediately went to 6 bars when the Yagi was connected so hopefully internet connection will now be obtained when out in the bush. Will fully test it out on my next field trip report back of results. |

Hi Members, It's been awhile since I have posted on this subject but on my last trip I got good internet reception using the Yagi which was a good result when camped on top of a hill where I was getting the Laverton Repeater at 65km. |

Any one using a Telstra Dave phone Don't use an antenna unless it is specifically designed for that phone, it will clag your phone and no warranty on that damage. virtually all after market patch leads are not compatible with the Dave. Trust me on this one, mine will now only work if I have the lead held in all the time. |

All the best, Peter | |
