September 3rd, 2011 So after a while of not being happy with the site where I originally remade it, I decided it was time to come back to Zetaboards so here we are, after a couple of days of non-stop work to move everything... Zeta certainly feels cleaner and should hopefully provide a better home for Hogwarts, The New Age Begins... here's to hoping at least. Everything has restarted from the original site (from a couple of years back) so I hope you all feel welcome to the site. Come join our little family and help us to grow! ______________ For those of you having trouble locating the register button, it's in the top left corner. Tiny I know. =C For any members who join before Tuesday 6th Sept,, 8pm GMT, bear with me as I have work so won't be on to look at applications before then. <3 |

Basic In-Character and Out-of-Character Rules {001} Treat fellow members with the same respect you would expect in return. Members, Mods and Admins. We're all the same, thus we expect that every one treats each other with the exact same respect. No one is better than anyone else. Anyone found to be constantly disrespecting another to the extent that we recieve a complaint about it, that member will recieve a warning. {002} There is a major difference between teasing and outright disrespect. Do not report any small comment made towards you that you might think is serious. We're a fun community and we make jokes about each other out of love. If Saul calls me a whore, I'm not going to take offense. Bear this in mind before you come running to the admin saying x member is being a total douché to you because chances are, they were just joking (be sure before you report, basically). {003} God-modding, God-moding, Power-playing and Meta-gaming. If you don't fully understand any of these terms, ask a fellow member or hit it up on Google. We do not like these being done as it can ruin the experience for other RPers. {004} Stealing/Plagiarism. If you are found to be stealing another persons' writing or art that they may have displayed on the forum you will be dealt with accordingly. {005} We are open to all ages and levels of writing. Do not feel that if you think your writing isn't up to scratch that you will automatically be rejected. We do not reject members, though we may ask you to change something or give you tips and pointers on how to improve; we're just trying to help. Also, if you are new to the world of Roleplaying, don't feel intimidated by the veterans here. We all started somewhere! {006} Don't spam anywhere other than the spam section. And please don't abuse it. Abuse of this may result in it being closed save for special occasions. {007} We ask that you read everything in the Rules/Guidelines section to familiarize yourself with the day to day way The New Age is run. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask! |

Canon Characters Canon Characters are NOT allowed. However, if you wish to be RELATED to a canon character, keep in mind the time between the books and the forum. We are in the year 2033. This means you cannot be Potter's son. You COULD be his grandson however. Being related to a Canon character does not automatically give you special status in the school. If someone else is already related to the character you wanted to be related to, and stated in their biography that they don't have any siblings or the like, feel free to PM them to figure out someway it can work so you're both happy. If you don't want to message that member, message a member of staff and it will be discussed in the staff forum. |

Special Blood Statuses and Abilities There are several special abilities and blood statuses in the wizard world. Here is the approved list along with any information you need should you want to try to have one of this rare and precious gifts. Metamorphmagus Metamorphmagus' are allowed, however, you MUST register with the Ministry of Magic before you may display any of your morph abilities (they are also extremely rare). Anyone displaying these abilities and are not registered with the ministry will have their post deleted and will receive a warning. If you are told you cannot be a Metamorphagi in your Sorting Hat thread, you cannot register at the Ministry. The Lowdown; A Metamorphmagus (pl. Metamorphmagi) is a witch or wizard with the ability to change his or her physical appearance at will, rather than requiring Polyjuice Potion or a spell like the rest of the wizarding population. They are extremely rare. Metamorphmagi are born, not made; it is not a skill that can be learned. There also seems to be a degree of heritability, as both Nymphadora Tonks and her son, Teddy Lupin, were Metamorphmagi. The ability presents very early in life. Heritage does not always play into the birth of a Metamorphmagus, however. Like many other types of magic, a Metamorphmagus' abilities are affected by his or her emotional state. The person's appearance at any moment will often reflect the emotion the person is feeling at the time. Strong emotions, such as shock or depression, can affect their abilities to the point of having trouble using them at all. Requirements; [o] Detailed Biography [o] Registry at the Ministry upon acceptance Rules; [o] Cannot abuse power by constantly changing as and when the mood suits them to get out of sticky situations. [o] Use of this power will be monitored. _______________________________________ _______________________________________ Animagus Not being registered with the Ministry is against the Law and should you be discovered, could result in many different punishments. If you wish to remain an unregistered Animagus, you'll just have to take extra precautions to make sure you're not caught, neh? The Lowdown; An Animagus (pl. Animagi) is a witch or wizard who can morph him or herself into a specific animal at will. It is a learned, rather than hereditary skill, unlike those of a Metamorphmagus. Information on Animagi is taught to Hogwarts students during their 3rd year in Transfiguration. Only very powerful and skilled wizards are able to become Animagi. The process of becoming an Animagus is long and arduous, and has the potential to backfire and cause the transformation to go horribly wrong. Once the initial training is over, an Animagus can change at will at any time, with or without a wand. Animagi can only take on the form of one specific animal. This animal form is not chosen by the wizard, but determined by their personality and inner traits. Thus, one's Animagus form is a reflection of one's inner nature. It is unknown whether Animagi can take the form of a more "magical" creature. An animagus in animal form is also not restrained by the lifespan limit of the creature that they otherwise transform into. Each Animagus bears an identifying mark on their animal form that is caused by something on their human body. This may be a physical trait like dental structure, or an acquired trait such as glasses. If an Animagus undergoes a major physical change, such as the loss of a limb, their animal form will also reflect that. In addition, an Animagus will appear to lose their clothing upon morphing. The clothing will reappear upon re-establishing the human form. Requirements; [x] Animal form must match an aspect of the character. [x] Can be registered or unregistered. Rules; [x] Cannot be abused. [x] Cannot spend all the time in Animal form. _______________________________________ _______________________________________ Werewolf A werewolf is a human being who, upon the complete rising of the full moon, turns into a fearsome and deadly near-wolf. Werewolves can be easily distinguished from regular wolves by several small distinguishing characteristics, such as the pupils of the eyes, the snout shape, and the tufted tail. At all other times, they appear as normal humans, though will often seem to be ill as the full moon approaches. This condition is caused by infection with lycanthropy, usually occurring when a human is bitten by a transformed werewolf. As defined by Hermione Granger, a werewolf differs from an Animagus in the fact that he or she does not transform by choice. With each full moon the person transforms and no longer remembers who he or she is, and would kill even their best friend given the opportunity. There is no known cure for either the bite of a werewolf in his wolf-form or the bite of a werewolf in his human form, though the Wolfsbane potion is the only known potion that can in any way make a werewolf less dangerous by allowing him/her to keep his/her human mind during transformation. Lycanthropy is a magical illness known to be spread by saliva-blood contact; thus, a human bitten by a werewolf in wolf form will become a werewolf him or herself. On every full moon, a werewolf will go through an incredibly painful transformation from a human into a wolf-like creature. They lose the ability to think in a human way, becoming highly aggressive towards humans- even those to whom they are close. Though werewolves usually only infect their victims through biting, they sometimes take it too far and attack their victims. Without any humans nearby to attack, or other animals to occupy it, the werewolf will attack itself out of frustration. This leaves many werewolves with self-inflicted scars and premature aging from the difficult transformations. Requirements for Full Infection; [-] Must have been bitten by a werewolf that was in his wolf form. [-] Infection must be included in history. Requirements for Partial Infection; [=] Bitten by a werewolf in human form. [=] Infection must be included in history. Rules; [-] Transforms on the night of the full moon if fully infected [=] Has wolfish traits if partially infected but does not transform. [-] Shows signs of their infection leading up to the full moon. _______________________________________ _______________________________________ Vampire Vampires are almost as rare as Metamorphmagus and Animagus, and are far rarer than the Werewolf. They are human looking in every respect but tend to have sensitive skin to extreme heat and a lust for blood. Because they look just like any other human, they are not shunned from society like the Werewolf; though this may be because most of the time no-one realises that are infected with the Vampiric Gene. Vampires pass on their infection through biting their target and injecting saliva directly into their blood, much like a Werewolf passes on Lycanthropy. Vampires are renowed for their ethereal appearance and as such, often find themselves breeding with humans. Children born from a vampire and human may inherit certain genes from the infected parent such as a thirst for the taste of blood and pale skin. If a child inherits the infection, they will bear sharp canine fangs that grow when hungry/feeding. Vampires do not intentionally seek out humans to infect. This may be the deciding factor that has lead to them being accepted into the wizarding world. They keep their blood lust sated with blood donated to their coven. Requirements; [*] Either bitten or born [*] Inherited Vampiric Genes are rarer [*] Sensitivity to extreme heat Rules; [*] Cannot bite any human they wish [*] If a vampire wishes to infect an un-infected human, they must seek permission from both the character's creator and the head vampire. _______________________________________ _______________________________________ Veela Veela are a race of semi-human, semi-magical hominids reminiscent of the Sirens and Furies of Greek mythology. Little is known about their biology, they appear to be young, beautiful human female caucasians, their appearance and especially their dance are magically seductive to almost all male beings. Veela are thought to have their own type of magic which does not require a wand. When Veela are angry, however, they transform into something more like Harpies — their faces turn into cruel-beaked bird heads and long scaly wings burst from their shoulders, and they can launch balls of fire from their hands. Veela hair is a magical substance, suitable as a core for wand manufacture. Renowned wandmaker Ollivander noted that he personally never uses it, as the product tends to be temperamental. Veela have been known to marry wizards, although it is unknown whether any have married Muggles. Children of these unions are half-Veela, and they will inherit magical ability from their fathers and beauty and charm from their mothers. Veela traits seem to persist for at least a few generations. The blood gradually dilutes from full veela, to half veela and so on ( 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16) after one sixteenth the blood is thought to be completely diluted, and the Veela gene lost. Requirements; [@] Female only for full veela, males may inherit the gene at 1/8 or 1/16. [@] Full Veela will be very rare. [@] Only Veela of full or half can transform into the bird form. [@] Only Veela of full, half or a quarter will be able to use fire. Rules; [@] No abusing the innate abilities of the Veela [@] No male can be anything more than an eighth Veela _______________________________________ _______________________________________ Parseltongue Parseltongue is the language of serpents (as well as other magical serpent-based creatures, like the Runespoor) and those who can converse with them. An individual who can speak Parseltongue is known as a Parselmouth. It is a very uncommon skill, and is typically hereditary. Nearly all known Parselmouths are descended from Salazar Slytherin with Harry Potter being the notable exception. Parseltongue is, when spoken, a hissing sound, similar to that of a snake; as such, normal people cannot understand it. Aside from serpent-based creatures, Parselmouths can communicate with each other with the language. Requirements; [^] Detailed history showing how you came to realise you could speak parseltongue (remember it's inherited) Rules; [^] Only parseltongues can understand the language Edited by Professor S. MAGIC BLOOD STATUS Pure Blood Pure-blood is the term for wizards and witches who come from "purely" magical heritage. They claim to have no Muggles in their family trees. Because the only way for a family to retain their pure-blood status is to marry other pure-bloods, all pure-blood families were related to one another by the 1990s. Because of inbreeding among pure-bloods and some marrying Muggles and Muggle-borns, the number of families claiming to be pure-blood is declining. At the very least, a witch or wizard must have all magical grandparents in order to be considered a pure-blood. However, the definitions of blood status were invented by those who are prejudiced against non-purebloods. They consider Muggle-borns to be as "bad" as Muggles, and therefore, it is likely that a wizard or witch must not have any Muggle-born grandparents either in order to be considered pure-blood. Some pure-blood families can trace their pure-blood status through many generations of magical ancestors and deny ever having any Muggles within the family, such as the House of Black. However, the truth is that if they ever did exist in the past, true pure-blood wizards and witches do not exist today. They merely erase Squibs and Muggles from their family trees. It is theoretically possible for a family to "regain" pure-blood status after a time. For example, although Harry Potter's mother Lily was Muggle-born, thereby making Harry a half-blood, his wife Ginny was a pure-blood. If each of their three children were to marry pure-bloods, any children they had could be considered "pure-blood" as well, as they would have no Muggles or Muggle-borns among their grandparents. Conditions; Parents and Grandparents need to be magical and born pure (not muggle born or half-blood). Parents of Grandparents need also be magical (though they can be muggle born or half-blood) Half-Blood Half-blood is the term commonly given to wizards and witches who have both magical and Muggle heritage. As pure-bloods claim to have no Muggle ancestry whatsoever, those who have and acknowledge their Muggle as well as their wizarding heritage, would be considered half-bloods. By the 1990s, half-bloods were the most common type of magical person, as the wizarding population would have become extinct had they not inter-married with Muggles and Muggle-borns. Due to the dominance of the magic gene, children born to at least one magical parent will almost always be magical themselves, meaning that a non-magical child born to a Muggle and a wizard is a Squib, not a Muggle. Conditions; Parents are the result of magical and muggle relations. (Either muggle born or a muggle) Muggle-Born Muggle-born is the term given to a witch or wizard who is born to two non-magical parents. Their magical abilities do not seem to be affected by their parentage — in fact, many Muggle-borns have been among the most powerful witches and wizards of their time, such as Lily Evans and Hermione Granger. The proportion of the wizarding population that is Muggle-born is on the rise as the pure-blood families shrink in size and number. Muggle-borns inherit magic from a distant ancestor; they descend from Squibs who married Muggles and whose families eventually lost the knowledge of their wizarding legacy. The magic resurfaces unexpectedly many generations later Because of the heritability of magic, a Muggle-born's siblings can sometimes be wizards or witches as well, as in the case of Colin and Dennis Creevey. However, this is not always the case, as Lily Evans's sister Petunia was a Muggle. When Muggle-born witches and wizards reach the age of eleven in the British wizarding community, their letters from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are delivered in person by a member of the staff, instead of by owl post (the usual postal system for wizards and witches). The purpose is to reassure the parents or guardians about sudden news, and explain to them about the concealed magical society. They would also assist the family with the preparation for going to Hogwarts such as the buying of school supplies in the hidden Diagon Alley. Conditions; Parents are Muggles. Edited by Professor S. Registering Hello and Welcome to Hogwarts. If you are thinking about joining up and becoming a member, then please read the rules. Also. For your user name, please put your characters first name and last name. E.G, if you wanted to name your character Hope Verity, you may put whatever name you wish on the application form (Quartz Aurora Borelias is too big for a forum name) but your name must be your characters first and second name. If you have trouble with this, just put a note at the bottom of your application and an admin will change it for you (e.g. you rushed to register and didn't realise) If you did not read this first and didn't follow this rule, a member of the staff will change your name. There are some case in which this rule can be ignored. Grendal for example only had one name, but he is half troll and trolls as a rule, don't have surnames so therefore, he is known as just Grendal. EVERY SEPARATE CHARACTER NEEDS A SEPARATE ACCOUNT Edited by Professor S. Nova, Sep 2 2011, 04:46 PM.

Multiple Characters You may have more than one character on the board but we advise you to stick to three and at an absolute maximum, five. You must remain active will all characters you have. Just one post a week from each is sufficient. If you have a reason for not being able to post once a week, inform Seraphyna. PLEASE REMEMBER; each character you create needs their own SEPERATE account We will be holding Activity Checks once every three Real Time months. If you fail to post in this thread by the time the month is over, characters not listed will be deleted. We are going to be rigid with this rule as we don't want a board of inactive members. |
