Not as big as pumpkins but they're more used as lamps to be carried when guising rather than being placed in the garden. John |

I'm a Nordic skier, but I do Alpine for cross-training. I love almost all of the trails at Mt. Hood Meadows, ESPECIALLY Ridge Run followed by Show Off! I ski that thing about 10-15 times every time I go! ![]() Mt. Bachelor has some okay ones as well. I skied the Wall of Voodoo one time and my face was doing this -> the whole time down. I don't really have any favorites there, though.

Ah, do I sense a fellow metal-head? Cool to see Megadeth again, though I gotta say, they were absolutely monstrous during during the Rust in Peace run.....Holy Wars, Hanger 18....Lucretia. Damn, now I gotta go find that disc upstairs and listen to it! My wife always pokes fun of me because I am the only person she knows that will listen to the Allman Brothers Band, Grateful Dead, Slayer and Cannibal Corpse all in the same day.

Here's one off Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:TurnipJackolantern.jpg I will have a rake to see if I can find any old pictures of myself guising with my turnip lantern for your amusement. My view of the snow is I love it until I need to get somewhere and then I definitely do not. I go for more sporty cars which means wide low profile tyres and lowered suspension making it easy to ground out although they do surprisingly well (front wheel drive, the main reason I wouldn't buy a BMW is they're no use in poor conditions). A couple of years ago I was determined to get to a Hogmanay (the Scottish version of New Year's Eve) party but the road had been mostly closed, I gave it a shot and made it all the way much to the surprise of the hosts as some people had given up living just 30 miles away rather than 200. I made it all the way home and rather proud of myself for going through 400 miles of snowy conditions without getting stuck and then managed to get the car stuck on my driveway! Sitting there, two metres from where I park the car the front wheels had bitten through into solid ice and couldn't get enough traction to pull the back of the car up the small incline...oh dear. A push from behind from some helpful neighbours got it back into position... John |

I can't find any good ones with the turnip, this is an earlier one that shows it fairly well: ![]() I was three years old at this point and dressed up as 'Wee Willie Winkie' which apparently was popular with my parents when we were young as it was easy to do, each of my brothers unsurprisingly were also dressed up similarly when they were this age. The character is from a Scots nursery rhyme: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wee_Willie_Winkie To be fair my car isn't much of a sports car instead it's just a sportier version of a standard family car which is an Octavia Mk II VRS estate so its suspension is stiffened and lowered along with lower profile tyres and similar. One of the main reasons in choosing the car was for the dog, I was looking at something a bit faster (to maintain the 60% increase in performance with my last few cars) but the Octavia is hard enough to keep within the speed limits and a faster car is even worse (the bike is so dull at legal speeds). As much fun as it is taking the car out onto the racetrack I prefer hiring cars for that now as that way it's not your own car you're wrecking. John |

I don't get to ski much anymore, but I learned up at Mt. Hood Meadows. My favorite I think though is Mt. Bachelor. Skiing off the summit gives you an unparalleled view of the Three Sisters and Brokentop. My parents still live in Sisters and we get to the area every few years. |

Skibowl is pretty amazing too! I've only skied it once, but I loved it! I know what you mean about Bachelor! I sometimes stop at the summit just to get a few pictures in. It's pretty awesome! Not fun in a snowstorm though! ![]() It snowed a little bit this morning, but none of it stuck around I can't wait for La NiƱa to finally kick in!
