I myself have a very strong opinion on the topic of this prisoner exchange, but I plan on keeping it to myself, I just wanted to inform those of you that don't know of this exceptionally lopsided exchange that just happened (1027 for 1)

My opinion on the matter is purely academic. To not cause a large argument, I shall not say anything.

c'mon gans. you can't post something like this and say you have opinions and then not discuss it. it's either a debate or it's not. i'm confident everyone on this board has their big boy/girl undies on and can handle a little bit of a debate maturely, yes?

Well I didn't see it as a point for discussion because it's something that already happened. I was just letting people know about some current events if they did not already, but if you want my opinion I will give a short summation.

In short, I am happy the exchange was done, basically it shows that Israel isn't arrogant and pulls the whole "we don't negotiate with terrorists act". I am not saying that people should always give in to terrorist demands, but I just think it is great that the country looks after its own and they do all they can to bring home everyone alive safely. This also was more of a last resort, there has been countless attempts to discern the location of this soldier and rescue him (albeit unsuccessful). What irks me though is the massive imbalance of the trade (1 for 1027), although I like to think that it takes 1027 suspected or known terrorists to equal that of a true soldier. And yes, there is always the risk factor of releasing 1027 potentially dangerous (and most certainly angry) individuals back in to the open where it will be much easier to perform terrorist acts (especially because they swore to do more acts like this to free the others), but a potential danger doesn't always happen, and can also be thwarted, and Israel will most likely be monitoring the released prisoners to ensure they have no tricks up their sleeves.

Israel is very arrogant, almost as much as the US. I was frankly surprised that this was completed.
