So how about a non-Halo-related thread in which we can put stuff that doesn't need a thread of its own? I call it...

SHOUTBOXTHREAD

Since there is no official topic, it can never actually get off-topic! Yay! :D

At the weekend I went to play in Conwy Castle, a 13th Century castle (take THAT, American history) on the North Wales coast. It looks like this:

And this is me getting my Ezio on:

(please excuse the back flesh & butt combo, I had no idea; in fairness I don't think I was in proper castle-climbing attire)

Good pics!

I shall come back here when I have something to add to the irrelevance of thread, which, btw, is AWESOME!

I think you knew exactly what was going on with the back flesh & butt combo.
(And I'm crossing my fingers that didn't sound too creepy :yikes: ).
I'm mad jealous that you got to play in a castle, btw.

So anyway, no topic, huh? So I can just throw out that every morning I'm awakened at 0630 by a canon going off a block from my hotel? Gotta love living on the military base. :army:

As bs angel would say: Cats. That is all.

I have a picture of me rappelling down a castle in Assisi, Italy somewhere around here...

Yay for no topic! :D

I'm gonna add Conway Castle to my list of 'best places to head to in a zombie apocalypse'.

I don't know... On one hand it doesn't have many windows so it'll be easier to defend. On the other hand... with no windows if the zombies break through you're pretty much screwed as there are limited exits.

There's even a well there to throw zombies into. It's 91 feet deep. It's pretty fucking scary when you're standing near the edge of it.

Yeah, but it's a castle, it was designed to be defensible, with arrow slits and portcullis and murder holes and high walls and turrets and it's probably in a perfect strategic location and only one or two exits mean only one or two places to block off in defence. It probably withstood seiges in the past, I reckon a mindless zombie horde would be no problem. You could grow stuff to eat in the grounds too, and keep a few livestock like chickens. Though I think the well would be better used as...well, a well, rather than for chucking zombies down.

This is all very true. But in the past, they defended against human armies... you know, the kind that die off as you shoot them with arrows or pour boiling oil over them and who starve if the siege lasts too long and so forth. Zombies aren't as easily stopped as all that. Zombies don't need food, they keep coming if you shot them anywhere that isn't the head (and even then they might keep coming for a step or two), and they keep piling on top of each other until some of them reach the top of the wall and their prey. It might take them a while, but I have full faith that the zombies will take over the world... at least until the flesh eating unicorns man up.

Some fair points. However, while the zombies are piling up against the walls, we could be genetically engineering some flesh eating unicorns to help with our cause, and by the time the zombies were inside, we'd be ready for them. And if the genetic engineering failed, we could just make them using other, more reliable means, as has been done before by one Dave Gorman:

Call me crazy, but I don't think the unicorn Dave Gorman "created" would help us much. What we need is true flesh eating unicorns, ones that will definitely help our cause as they hate zombies as much as we do.

That's quite a picture. I like the way the colours convey a happy, almost child-like theme when really it's psychotic.

On the subject of nice art, here are some people I like. Some are varying degrees of NSFW so excuse the spoiler tags:

HR Giger:

Luis Royo:

Ben Newman:

Charlie White (this one's quite disturbing but doesn't actually show anything explicit):

Err...ok then... :backout:

Actually, I love Giger's stuff too. But I really don't know what to make of the others. Oh and the Luis Royo one doesn't seem to have posted, nor does the link in the quotebox work (for me).
