As a project on school two years ago, me and four other people made a game. Then we set up projector, silver screen and 4 controller configured for the players. Then each class was invited one at the time to play it, four at the same time, rest as audience. And as everybody had tried it out, we held a tournament for the teachers. Everybody loved it. Even people that clearly seemed like they haven't ever touched any real console or computer game seemed to get into the mood and enjoy it. And what was the game about? Well, you might or might not know popular old arcade game called Asteroids. It was the inspiration for this four player FFA mayhem. Four ships and some asteroids on one field. The last man standing wins. In-game controls and instructions on how to play it are on "readme.txt" in the download. And then a word of advice about controlling your ship. Our primary coder wanted the game to have realistic space physics. So you conserve your monumentum, there is no friction. Not for movement or for turning. I didn't like this, but convincing him to add some automatic deacceleration was like flogging a dead horse. If you notice your ship spinning uncontrollably, like you probably do, hold down the turning button of opposite direction. If you notice your ship saling around the screen uncontrollably, turn the opposite direction and accelerate. And as last words: Use the music, it it important part in creating the atmosphere of the game. Mr. Download (bonus points if you get the reference) Edited by porottaja, Dec 29 2011, 05:05 PM.
