Given that we have a few musically minded people here, I figured it might be nice to do some music discussion. The list of artists I like is offensively long so to kick things off I am posting links to the two that represent each end of my musical taste, from the angry & heavy (Dillinger Escape Plan - Farewell Mona Lisa) to the sad & mellow (Birdy - Skinny Love). These do not reflect all the artists in-between, but it's a good place to start. Et tu, internets? |

![]() I like epic instrumental music: classic music and movie music mostly. Besides that, I like Wolfmother. I also play piano myself. Edited by porottaja, Sep 20 2011, 07:35 PM.

2 very nice examples, I haven't heard of either song but they were very good. I have a wide range of music I listen to as well, and if I tried to list them all, I bet a bunch of artists would be left from the list because I would just simply forget about a few of them here and there. Basically, if a song catches my ear and I like it, that could be all it takes. It is hard for me to put it into words, exactly. Some music I LOVE , and on the flip side, there is some I just don't get. Currently I'm listening to Daft Punk, Metallica, Linkin Park, anime soundtracks: (Yoko Kanno IS a musical Genius!) Game soundtracks: (Halo's and Mass Effect's, and Soul Calibur's), Rob Zombie's older stuff, Prodigy, NIN, Stevie Ray Vaughn, but those are just a few names right in front of me on my shelf.

It started out that I only like country because that was all my mom listened to, but now I like other things, especially Linkin Park! I also really like Breaking Benjamin. I still like most country, and I have never understood why so many people hate it.

I listen to pretty much anything, from Celtic to Classical. I'm not a fan of MOST rap (I love the '90's old-school stuff though!) and I'm not a big country fan (sorry Sensory! )I'm mainly a rock/punk/metal fan though! I'd say it makes up a good 75% of my music. Sensory: I'm a Breaking Benjamin fan too! ![]() Currently playing: A New Momentum by Chevelle I'm also a fan of good 60's-80's music too! |

Im a die-hard rocker, and this list is gonna be sizable (in no particular preferential order...im also bound to omit 75% of what i listen to lol) -Beatles -Rolling Stones -Led Zeppelin -ACDC -Boston -Chicago -Rise Against -Linkin Park -Green Day -Red Hot Chili Peppers -Blink-182 -Styx -The Zombies -ZZ Top -Billy Joel -LostProphets -Sublime -Less Than Jake -Streetlight Manifesto (well no song I 100% like...they always have 1 weird part) -Allman Brothers Band -Steve Miller Band -Ozzy Osbourne -Bob Seger -The Clash -Creedence Clearwater Revival -Reel Big Fish -Cream -Eric Clapton -Don Mclean -The Eagles -Elton John -David Bowie -Foo Fighters -The Doors -Fleetwood Mac -Goldfinger I can go on if you guys want, but I think that's enough for now. Oh and scruff, now hopefully you'll have a better understanding of my tastes in rock lol. P.S. Bonus points for those that can tell me the genre of Goldfinger, Less Than Jake, Sublime, Reel Big Fish, and Streetlight Manifesto (without cheating and looking it up)! |

Chuck - although I'm not a Maroon 5 fan and I'd rather punch myself in the face than listen to Linkin Park, you have some excellent, excellent taste right there. It's a very, very nice mix of genres, and it's always good to see The Fray in a list like that. Such an underrated band

For those who like rap... Actually, also for those who DON'T like rap... Listen to this 2 minute and 22 second track at once and for the love of all that is holy, listen to the lyrics. Just a reminder that rap isn't all bitches & guns. Sage Francis - Crack Pipes |

Thanks, Scruff! I only really like Moves Like Jagger and a couple of their older songs, but it doesn't compare to the other artists - so the Jagger song really adds a temporary boost. I half agree with your Linkin Park opinion. Hybrid Theory and Meteora and everything in between were good. Then Mr. Hahn stopped DJ'ing and Minutes to Midnight and whatever-the-newer-album-is, really sucked. Not my favorites, but I've recently been listening to random mostly European bands. Burial (not the dubstep), Frightened Rabbit, Gotan Project, The Accidental, Blitzen Trapper, The Datsuns, Glasvegas, The Thermals, Miike Snow btw, dubstep is for noobz |

I've had a major problem with Linkin Park ever since they spawned themselves onto the planet. But as most people here appear to be fans of them, I shall keep my opinions to myself As for Moves Like Jagger, I am very much a fan of Christina Aguilera so hey ![]() Congrats, you just listed a bunch of bands I've never heard of! Well I know Glasvegas; unfortunately I can't get past the singer's voice, but there you go. Also I've managed to go my whole life without knowing what dubstep is. As far as I can tell it's some kind of sub-genre of dance music, but there comes a point where you have to draw a line in the sand with genre names. I was recently investigating a band on Youtube to see if they're worth watching (they're playing down the road from me in a couple of months; and no, they're not worth going to see) and there was a full-on raging argument between two guys about whether said band were 'deathcore' or 'melodic death metal'. Jesus. I hate Youtube comments so very, very much

so far, Chuck wins for most eclectic, i think. Moves Like Jagger is catchy! i guess i'll cop to being the mostly mainstream girl with some random crap thrown in. but i'm okay with that. i don't listen to music as much as i used to since over here, 90% of what's on the radio is the stupid Barbara Streisand song or techno. let me run through my iTunes of stuff i've got on there and list things since people are making lists! -Adele (21 is fantastic) -Aerosmith -Alanis Moirsette -Fleetwood Mac -Hall and Oates -Jimmy Buffet -John Cougar Mellencamp -Queen -The Steve Miller Band -Van Halen -A New Found Glory -Nickelback ![]() -Green Day -Counting Crows -3 Doors Down -Barenaked Ladies (easily my current favorite. they have so many fun songs!) -Meatloaf -Switchfoot -Pat Benatar -Bon Jovi -The Fray -My Chemical Romance -Fall Out Boy -Marc Broussard (i think he's incredibly underrated) -Foo Fighters -Goo Goo Dolls (i love them)-Matchbox 20 -Blink 182 -Rihanna -Usher -Journey -Eve 6 -Michael Buble -U2 -INXS -All American Rejects -Less Than Jake -Yellowcard don't crucify me too much.

Oooo lists, I like lists. I'm gonna do one! One artist for each letter in the alphabet (except I, Q, X, and Z cos there's nothing on my computer starting with them, maybe because I know of none, more likely because my HDD crashed 2 months ago and I lost half my music). Alabama 3 Bedouin Soundclash (and an honourable mention to Bomb the Bass for the oldies amongst us who remember Xenon 2: Megablast) Chemical Brothers David Rodigan Enigma Fleetwood Mac Guns n Roses Hybrid Jimi Hendrix The Kinks Lemon Jelly Massive Attack Nightmares on Wax Orbital Prodigy Red Hot Chili Peppers Stanton Warriors Tchaikovsky Underworld The Velvet Underground Woodkid (yes, cos of the AC:Revelations trailer, but it's a good song!) That took longer than expected... |

"Literal"kid Obscure bands? Yeah I never thought I would be listening to them either. It's all because of the T.V. show Chuck, the documentary of course. They pick some nice indie bands for background music. |

Snick, I absolutely love Barenaked Ladies! (That sounds dirty, but it's not.) My dad used to listen to them all the time, but now he's remarried and his wife got him into Dave Matthews, and he says they're really similar. They're not even close! "If I Had $1,000,000" is one of the best songs ever! |
