Hey. Sarkozy's out. I was a fan of Sarkozy's right-wing leanings and I'm rather skeptical about Hollande's policies toward corporations.

I think France has some Racial intolerance issues, though I do see their points about religious clothing and security. Unfortunately, I can't fully sympathise with their recent thinkings and discussions about such clothing (and many other such issues) on the political table.

I think it is extreme on how they are tackling the issue of religious clothing, especially when most discussions are centred around ethnic minorities; Sikhs and Islamics (amongst other ethnicities) should be allowed to wear what they want in a Democratic society (as long as it does not break profanity laws in the general public, or cause either racial tensions/sexism/bullyism, you get the point).

I am not a fan of Islamic women wearing full burka's (everything except the eyes covered), but partial ones are ok. I won't, however, confront or tell the women, who have chosen to wear such clothing, what to wear. That would be a stupid and disgusting thing to do.
I also am not a fan of France's decision to ask Sikhs to remove their turban's at the will of authorities; at airports, as long as their is a private room where such measures can be done, then it is ok, otherwise, as it is currently discussed in France, it would be insulting for a Sikh to do this in the presence of others.

Why I brought these topics up is that I think Sarkozy administration was the lesser of evils against Hollande administration, and I fear for more ethnic minorities being singled-out further in France.

France has freedom from religion, not freedom of religion which is what the rest of us generally have.

Doesn't France have one of the best Healthcare systems out there as well as a pretty low poverty rate??

Not to mention, they gave us "proper use of the tongue". Italy and Spain may be romantic countries as well but there's no "Italian/Spanish" kiss. France is the only nation to have their own Kiss.

Plus, It takes a lot of guts to stand up to the Bush administration and that's more than I can say about the Democrats! - Bill Maher

Don't forget they have their own toast, too.
