First, I have just recently got back into comics again. I am reading the new DC Batman #52 series, and will be venturing into Marvel soon after. Yes, I  both DC and Marvel, I know I am not (supposedly) a true nerd, that I am an abomination :blah:

For that reason, though I do know about the Marvel Multiverse (though I now more of the DC Multiverse, especially after the comic series fifty-Two), I am not well-versed as how The Marvel Cinematic Universe basis its characters of which Marvel comic universe.

Now:

God DAMN you are my new favourite (UK respect!) 'round here!! Hahaha. :cheer:

I "got back" into comics about a year or so ago. Mostly Deadpool and Civil War stuff (absolute fav story arc). Obviously, I'm not extensively versed in EVERY Marvel Universe b/c there ARE dozens which is impressive by any creative standard AND to keep them all in check. The only time they've ever really collided as much as possible is Marvel Zombies which was by far the most impressive and risky thing Marvel dabbled in. I cannot express how they were able to blend such an amazing cast of characters around such gore and destruction of their own selves. One word - Galactus. And it's NOT what you'd think!!
The last real DC thing I read was Kingdom Come and that actually impressed me. But DC is just too 1930's Noire feeling for me. It's always the same "back alley" kind of story. I always expect one panel to be a drawing of someone smoking a cigarette under a lamp-post in the shadows lol.
I don't know why, but I cannot stand the Ultimate Universe. It was the most recent for Marvel to put "Mainstream" and I just don't dig the style and retelling of origins. Granted, Marvel tends to redo origins to modernize them about every decade or so but almost NOBODY sits well with me in the Ultimate-verse.

I used to be heavy into the JLA/JLI(nternational), Green Lantern, Batman, X-Men and Spiderman. Spidey being my absolute fave of all comics/heroes. Too much in common

Now, onto your characterizations:

you gotta try Ultimate Destruction! you get to use a utility pole as a bat to see how far out to sea you can swing and hit soldiers! Also, get to destroy pretty much everything. great fun.
Sir, you are speaking to a HUGE Hulk Fan. I just never played the first movie game b/c of how sadly linear it was. Plus it had fucking Banner missions. HA!!!!

UD is listed as one of my top 5 favorite games and #1 in Comic Book games b/c that game makes you feel 100% like The Hulk. Beating down a giant 20 story Mech with Car-Glove fists and gamma thunderclaps was just all too satisfying!!!

Best Super Hero Games EVAR (emulating character experience)

Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
Spiderman 2 (Flawed due to movie rights. PHENOMENAL Sandbox)
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (Flawed plot-wise but they actually did Civil War rather well. Fusions = AWESOMIUM)
The Punisher (2005) (not based off the movies)

Prototype (More of an Anti-hero game...but it's a less powerful Hulk meets Venom with a bit of Mystique)

did you like the first Ultimate Alliance? I remember being pretty gripped by the story when I first went through the campaign. Never played the second one, not sure why.

The dialogue REALLY bothered me. It was WAY too lengthy IMO at times and just too hokey. Like Avengers was honestly VERY satirical. Coulsen, Stark and Fury are cracking jokes all over the place. Stark honestly has more wisecracks in THIS alone than Parker in all 3 Spiderman movies. That's just sad...but acceptable. And Idk...it had that movie dis-quality of trying to jam too many things in at once.
MUA2 left out major parts of Civil War but blended it with Secret War. If you didn't take it too seriously as a comic fan, it was pristine. I loved it for what it was. I need to re-pick it back up since Ka Five mentioned it a while back.

I still play Spiderman 2 for the PS2 to this day. It's literally like playing GTA as Spiderman. One of my favorite games of all time!

I've tried several of the Xbox Spiderman games, but I can't remember which ones . . . Which one is the one where you can be Venom and have to start out by killing a kid?????

Where YOU'RE Venom? Was the art Cel-Shaded-like? That's Ultimate Spider Man. I hated that one.

The only other major one that featured Venom, but wasn't playable was Web of Shadows.

Yeah, it was Ultimate Spidey. I didn't like it either. It was cool to be Venom though!

Well, I'm usually the last one in the pool I guess - really hoping to be able to see The Avengers this weekend, considering 3D - is it worth it?? (the 3D that is)

It wasn't produced in 3D and I've heard it doesn't make it any better. Either way, you WON'T be disappointed!!

I saw it IMAX 3D on opening night. I've since seen it in (regular?) 3D and 2D. With the exception of the presentation size of IMAX - I would say 3D isn't worth it.

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't detract from from the film in anyway, but neither does 2D. One didn't enhance my experience more than another.

thanks for the feedback; definitely don't see any reason to fork out more $$ for 3D
