That's been my initial plan for a while now. Not in a terroristic way, but I despise the US for the mockery of a sham that it is. I really hate the whole "Greatest Country In the World" bullshit too. Yeah, that may have been prominant and true when we got the country up and running but it's massively declined since then and it's due to the ignorance and idiocy of the people. For a country about Freedom, it spends most of it's time trying to separate people's individual freedoms and rights like their fucking skin color.

COME THE FUCK ON!?!? Is it everyone? Of course not! But influence enough allows adults to filter this sort of hate and crap to their children and it spreads.
People yap about how bad other countries are mainly b/c they've never been there. All they hear is other countries hate us and think "well they don't know what they're missing". Yep - Over priced Gas/Food/Clothes/Etc, Jersey Shore, The Kardashians, Bath Salts, Molesting Priests, Social Discrimination in "The Land of Equality" and pretty much 90% hate and disgust for all new comers.

I'm not exactly a social butterfly. I'd rather just hang out alone than talk to any random person I don't really know but I will never hate/judge a person based on their skin color/culture, religious belief, gender or sexual preference. The US boasts a world of bullshit on tolerance and it exhibits the bare minimum.

What I hate are people that think they're exclusive and above others OR if they're influenced by another person. Make up your own mind.

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/mom-cut-ponytail-judge-daughter-utah-151037132.html

Judge orders teen to cut her pony tail for a reduced sentence.

I've never really been one to go pro on "offering deals" to criminals unless it still places proper judgement or helps solve another case/crime/etc.

This is just abusing rights and positions of power though. Very mafia-esque if you ask me.

why don't you just rename the thread the "I Hate America" thread. It would be more accurate.

I have ALWAYS said that Color, Gender, Sexual Preference, etc do not define if a person is an asshole. If you're an asshole, you're an asshole.

:ditto: Glad we think alike...

The real me is actually pretty much against breast feeding in public...let alone to a 3 year old child!
Before I get lambasted - Hey, if it works in your home - Go for it - But keep it in your home, please.
So if a mom is out with her baby somewhere and the baby gets hungry, you'd rather her go to the bathroom and feed the baby or something?
Why?
Would YOU want to eat your meals in the bathroom?

Agree with Snicks... Breastfeeding can be done modestly. I find that the only times it is offensive (to me anyway) is when someone just pops their breast out very nondiscretely and goes at it without using a blanket or some type of cover... It is simple enough to step into another more private area for a few seconds to get set up and come out covered. Breastfeeding in public doesn't bother me. Just makes me think the lady is a good mom for using breastmilk which is so much better for the baby in so many ways. (I can get more detailed if anyone is really interested in why breastmilk is better than baby formula but I digress..)
but then again I'm a modest person myself....
(Also for the guy trying to "rearrange" himself... that only takes a few seconds to step out of the room and adjust as well... Honestly it doesn't bother me if a guy did that in public. It has to be uncomfortable having certain parts of your anatomy on the outside of the body... where you can sit on them.... doesn't sound comfy.)

The Time cover is intended to be sensationalistic, there's no doubt in my mind.

Even on one of my other boards which is notoriously pro BF'ing, extended BF'ing, Attachment Parenting, etc, they all think it's over the top. There's not a single person on there that thinks it's a great idea.

Most of them are sure the mom is only trying to launch her modeling career.

Yeah... that Times Cover was totally over the top. From a nursing standpoint... breastfeeding (according to my nursing research) is really only beneficial up to 2 years of age when the child really starts developing their own immune system (my personal belief is that breastfeeding after age 2 is CREEPY...) :ew:

the navy taught me that it is usually best not to publicly discuss politics, sex, or controversial issues. Since this thread touches all of those, I will refrain from tossing my hat in the ring and just refer you to my wonderful wife's comments above. :bag:

Plus, I'm Texan, and I'm pretty sure most of y'all, except for the limeys, are yankees. ;) :D

Mr. & Mrs. Per0, I recently read a book by a Texan that indirectly speaks to the OP above. I'd be curious as to your thoughts on it - American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in US History by Chris Kyle

He is unmistakably Texan and a true American hero, IMO. He also made me love this country a lot more, reading about how these particular soldiers view our nation, their patriotism and sacrifice, etc. Great read.

Two things I've learned over the course of history is, yes, Man is as flawed as they come and will screw over another man for a petty piece of land. Competition is the pinnacle of human nature. BUT that's not to say it can't be changed. The only issue with that is that history has more or less shown us how lazy we truly are to "Get Things Done" and how much we really don't want peace and equality.

Almost EVERY single advocate that has come close or made the greatest cases for equality and peace have been purposufully executed.

Ghandi
JFK
Lincoln
Jesus
MLK Jr.

These are people, I truly believe could have changed the way we are but somebody felt they had the right to snuff their lives out and the world just sat and watched. Nobody takes their place. Nobody steps up to the plate and tries to take one for the team.

Sadly, that's the only thing I can give to terrorists - not respect, I don't condone and I certainly am not rooting for them - but their determination is unprecedented and unrivaled. It's a shame we have nobody with such passions for peace in their numbers. Instead we get maybe one pure voice per generation and they're easily taken away from us. Not forgotten but not followed either.

This is why I'm just one to "get to the end of my days". My Social Security is more or less gone and I'm not looking to better the world. I'm just trying to get by in it.

So be the voice. If the problem is that people are too lazy and that we are going to hell in a handbasket, stand up and shout at everyone to looking at the f-ing basket. Every generation has one, but this one doesn't, as of yet. Just trying to get by is the very thing that gets the world where it is. It reminds of people who don't exercise the obligation (not privelege) to vote who then endlessly bitch about the politicians.

Will working to better the world work? Probably not. But each small act CAN inspire other small acts. And maybe it won't keep the world from going to hell, but it might slow it down a bit. Who knows, a person could even get a Nobel Peace Prize. They give them out like party favors these days. It's like in teaching. I know I won't reach every kid. That doesn't mean my career is pointless, because the few I do reach and make a difference for make it worth it.

As a somewhat tangential note: In 2020, I will be running for president on the platform: "anybody who wants the job isn't qualified to have it."

@Aslan - not one I have read as of yet. But what you describe is how I would describe most of my buddies who are still in the military. And I know that a lot of them love America, quite literally, to death, while hating a lot of Americans for the ignorance and the ability to talk so much without stepping up to do anything. At the same time, they do love being able to protect everybody's God-given right to be an asshat. They are some of the very best people I know.

I don't vote b/c I don't trust politicians in general. It's somewhat assumption based but track records from any given politician speaks volumes of corruption be it tax evasion, unethical spending of the publics money, cheating, gratuitous sex/drug use, etc and these are the people we're supposed to trust with our future. Again, it's why I can't get into politics as a whole. When Push comes to Vote, the campaign is littered more with "Why The Other Guy Is Terrible" rather than "What Can I/We Do To Help?"

Ditto with many of my buddies (I was pretty much the only one from my group of buds that did NOT go into some branch of the military out of High School). I appreciate Kyle's take on things (and his representation of the military (esp. Seals) in general).

Ehhhh...mostly right. Oddly, yes, if I know something is going to deliberately piss someone off "Just Because"? I'll do it.

That's only b/c it happened to me one too many times until I thought it over and said "Why should it bother me?" and it hasn't ever since. It's just kind of funny and enlightening to see it from the other end of the spectrum, ya know?

For the thread, it's mainly b/c as a youth, I always went One way. As I got older, I started questioning EVERY angle of something that interseted me.

I lovvvve conspircay theroies and such to almost every degree b/c for the most part, they're unproven regardless of how it's protrayed. I enjoy that people can be so certain over something that is clearly uncertain. Like religion. I have a big :penis2: for overzealous pious people. The people that condemn you if you don't follow every bit of Christian/Catholic Law and so on.

I could really go on with that but I'll cut that short and only dive into it if someone else brings it up. I know too many people that turn into the most sensative sallies when it comes to religious discussion.
