Totally wish I was in the UK right now... SO SICK of Texas Summers.... HOT AS HELL.... ***note: not actually a desert in East Texas. It's actually rolling hills, pine trees and lots of pastures of cows and horses. It's west texas that is all deserty.***Wake up at 6:25 --> 88 degrees F Noon --> 100 degrees F 3pm --> 120 degrees F 10 at NIGHT --> 88 degrees F Sucks .... And people wonder how I can be so fair skinned living in Texas. It's because I don't go outside in the summer... I step outside and instantly feel nauseated due to the heat. Awful. Need a pool... or to go tubing down the Guadalupe again. @Deadpool -

Nice Aslan. The weather here is definitely isolated from the rest of the country, I wonder why it's not hot here? Same with Los Angeles (also lived there for a few years). I got woken up this morning at 4am by monsoon-like rain. It's partly cloudy and a comfortable 58 (14C) degrees right now. |

To be fair, A) yes, the conditions Mrs P describes would not suit me at all. I only want those kinda temperatures if I'm on a beach with a book and some rum, and B) at least the shitty weather we're having has meant my hayfever hasn't really kicked in. Except last Thursday when it stopped my Halo fun. Stupid graminoids and their dumb reproductive systems...

Oregon is absolutely beautiful! My in laws live there (they will be coming down to Texas next Tuesday to visit)... I LOVE the weather there.Only problem is... I'm so used to the HOT weather in Texas that I am always FREEZING in Oregon. Everyone up there is usually running around in shorts and a raincoat (just in case it starts to drizzle), while I'm bundled up in a wool coat and scarf. (and STILL shaking.)LOVE Oregon though... especially Heceta Head Lighthouse's Cove and all the blackberries! (I attached a few photos from a few of our trips there) Heceta head Lighthouse ***Had to wear 3 hoodies that day and was STILL cold!*** Joshua Me

I'm surprised your hayfever isn't a problem (in a good way!), it's been one of the worst years I've ever seen for hayfever up here as there seems to be so much pollen about. At one point I wondered why the cars were so dusty but it was all pollen, the dog is having a really tough time as he's allergic to pollen and cannot get it under control this year at all even with the maximum dose of hayfever medication (back to the vet tomorrow ). My mum is going through so many boxes of tissues as her hayfever is really bothering her as well. Thankfully it seems to be something I've outgrown as it hasn't affected me in years. The weather up here is generally considered rubbish and friends from the continent have a particularly hard time but while it can be a bit irritating at times, it's not too bad at all. At least if it's a bit cooler you can stick an extra layer on but if it's really hot there's only so far you can strip down particularly when at work, even though 'warm' here would be considered cold probably most other places it's hard going with the cycling as I get hot very quickly and there's no way to cool down really. Could live with a bit more sun particularly for the camera, I was shooting some pictures of a friend's dog going into the water and even at iso 1600 during the day it wasn't fast enough. The forecast is looking good this week as it looks like a scorching few days and may even break 20 degrees celsius (I'm not joking, that is very high for here). On a different note entirely, what does Joshua's t-shirt say? John Edited by JohnMcL7, Jul 4 2012, 03:02 AM.

Right you are, chuck. Sadly that one is falling apart and I cannot find the same shirt anywhere. It's one of my favorites. And those pictures are 3 and 5 years old.

What heat? I guess that's something you don't notice when you're in an air conditioned car for 12 hours. ![]() I did feel that Texas heat, though, and it wasn't very fun. It was definitely different from Utah heat. (Probably because of the humidity.) Luckily it wasn't too bad when we did go outside. I'm definitely not gonna miss that part of Texas! |

Yeah, Texas heat is different than other places because of the humidity from the Gulf of Mexico. (The humidity also makes my hair try to go back to its natural wavy form unless I use hair spray.) Once, I was flying to Oregon to see Josh's family and one of our flights stopped in Arizona. It was HOT, but not as hot as East Texas. It was a dry heat so it wasn't too bad. At least not for a Texan. |

awesome pics! Did you say Josh has family in Oregon? We're gearing up to visit my parents in Central Oregon on 7/14. My Mom said that the mornings are around 33F and the evenings can get up to 80F! (high desert) can't wait!! |
