I registered but made a mistake on my username - is there a way to change it? If it's easier, you can just delete the account and I can start again - sorry
I can fix it, let me know what to. :)

sorry, I meant to include that - please change it to my full GT: ASLANS R0AR (fyi - the "o" in roar is the number zero - for some reason I didn't think I could use my full GT when I registered, then I saw others were able to)

thanks!!!

You don't HAVE to use your GT if you don't want to. There's a profile field for your GT so if you just want to be Aslans or whatever you registered as, I'm okay with that. :)

I would rather use the full GT, if that's ok - thanks!

Registered! :yay:

The new site looks pretty amazing, and I will be doing some exploring today (and post a new introduction, possibly Yellowlength  ).
I loved that I was the #9th member of this forum, but my stupidity of not coming on here regularly means that I am only going to be of the first 30 members (#27th :( ). (This is just an issue that affects Yellow's only, so don't mind me or :stab: me plz  ).

I will be a little upset that a years worth of work on this forum cannot, due to technical reasons, be shifted over, so I thought to ask a few questions:

  • 1. Will this current forum have a block on registering new members (ie. no new members can register at all)? :hellno: (Closest 'stop' emoticon I could find that was relevant. We need a stop emoticon on the new forum btw kaithnxbai! :wuv: ).
  • 2. Will this forum still exist as an internet museum? :P
Joking aside, does this forum have a chance to exist far into the future, so that we the Beardy Ones can look back at what we achieved? :old:
  • 3. Will there still be AWESOME emoticons? :nervous:
    For example: :hippo:
    ;)

  • 4. How much of the current BBCode be retained on the new forum (such as writing emoticon's, adding text effects like italics or colour, or do members need to relearn new rule sets? :coffee:
  • 5. Are Yellow's permitted to writing Yellowlength posts? :hiding:

That's it for now.

<3

No, Yellow-length posts are not allowed. They take too long to read. ;)

There's a 60,000 character limit on posts.

1) I don't know the specifics of how we're going to let this current site fade away, besides all we're doing is transitioning back to the default Zetaboards URL. I would assume we're just going to let it sit as-is, but if we're not going to be using this site, I don't see why we can't simply turn off registration.

2) I don't know if ZB has any activity requirements to keeping the board up, but if it doesn't, and assuming Godzilla doesn't stomp all over the servers, yes, it will exist! ;)

3) We're going to add a few more! It's not going to be quite as extensive as it is here, but yes, we will have some awesome ones!

4) Most of the BBcode here is used on phpBB as well. If it isn't, there's a way to add it. So if you don't see the option, let me know and I can add it!

5) ...

So far, I don't like the new site as much as this one. It just seems harder to navigate. I am slowly transferring my activity over there though, just two busy to be in both sites right now!

I agree Aslan. It somehow didn't post my first Intro when I clicked Submit but when I redid it and went to View Post, it worked. Much llke Windows Vista, I hate being asked that kind of "Are you sure? Are you SURE You're SURE about doing that?"

So, what are the advantages to switching to the new site? The only real advantage I can see is the addition of the blog feature. On the flip side I see us losing some of what this site can provide in switching. Not trying to cause trouble, here, just wanting some perspective.

Here, the forums ARE the website.
There, the forums are a TINY PART of the website.
It's just that the rest of the website isn't built yet.

What do you think we stand to lose?

It helps to summarize it like that, thanks. In terms of what we "lose," definitely nothing worth too much, just some minor functionality stuff (no "like" buttons, themes, etc.) These things are minor though.

I can see why the switch is a "step toward the future" that Snicks mentioned; the possibility exists for much more, though that "much more" doesn't exist yet. I especially like the freedom that exists to make it "our own" with the banners and such!

I'm sure it will all to mostly come back. It's just a matter of "Frankenstein'ing" the new site to match the old one as best.

I've honestly just moved from site to site so often in the past few years that I'm just all :wall: :impatient: with another shift. Mostly, I just drop around to bullshit and have some interesting conversations, when people aren't jumping to conclusions obviously :blah: , but for the most part, I do enjoy most of the chats that we've had.

I'm just browsing the new site for the most part until some to most of the better navigational materials emerge (if so facto)

The "Like" functionality is the thing I'm most missing; but give it time. It's not like the new site is it and that's that - Crazy is working his little ass off to get things up to speed.

Themes - honestly I think it's better just having one. The coding was a nightmare (having to change everything not once, but twelve times!), and it's easier in terms of talking about bugs when we know we're all looking at the same thing.

What navigational problems you got Deadpool? I know it looks different, but there's not much else different.

The only thing I like about themes is for viewing purposes - my eyesight doesn't like some of the dark little fonts we've got going on there; that's the only reason I changed themes here - to make it easier to read (I've got an eye disease called Kerataconus that makes stuff like computer screens a bit more difficult to handle).

It's not a huge problem on the new site though, hopefully I can just adjust to it and increase font size (zoom) as needed.

Thanks to Sam & Crazy for all their hard work!

We've got a laundry list of things to update and a lighter theme is on the list. I'd like to avoid the "problem" we ran into here which is TOO many themes so I think we'll just tweak the one we have to invert the colors.

Hopefully that's not too complicated. :P
