Ben laid back in the old worn armchair and closed his eyes. There had been a big race only the night before, and Ben was running on pure adrenaline. He hadn't slept yet, but he felt as though his head was wound on too tight and there was no hope of sleep any ways. rubbing his temple, Ben tried to remember exactly what had happened last night, but it was all a little blurry. The Night watchmen had arrived, but Ben didn't think they had pegged anyone. Groaning, Ben shifted himself to try and get more comfortable, but shot upright as the hanger door creaked opened slowly.

Max bumped her head to the music blasting through her ears, or more exactly Burn, Burn by The Prophets. For some reason, she really digged rock music.

Takin a glance up at the burning sky, she grinned cheekily. It was around 5 am, which was the perfect time to go have some fun. Sure, to most people that was bloody early, but...well, ferals never did have a thing for sleeping long. They always did end up waking up at usually 7 or somethin, but she had a knack at waking up earlier than usual.

The sun had just reached above the horizon, glowing silently in the stunning light blue and cloud-free sky. So it wasn't that wierd really that the air was a little bit foggy to breathe in, yet it just made it way hotter than usual. The sunrays were practically burning on her skin. Who would have thought it'd be like that in the morning?

She was wearing her usual clothing whenever she was gonna go work on some cars in the hanger, which she did pretty much at every chance she got, if she wasn't out racing. Point was; it was a bloody blast, seriously.
Anyway, back to clothing. A plain dirty white tank top, thick at the shoulders...you get the deal. The top was highly cleavaged, and had the words Sugah, we're going down imprinted on it. Her shoes were her only pair, as in the dirty black nike runners that were way overused. Hell, it was pretty much almost falling appart at the lace. Moving on, she had her usual black armband around her elbow, and her fingerless gloves. Last things to go; deep military green ripped shorts, and her usual black hoodie tied around her waist, while her black backpack hang lazily over her left shoulder.

Suddenly, as she neared the hanger, she smelled a familliar smell. She was surprised she hadn't smelled it before, but lately she'd been trying to shut her smelling and hearing senses off. They were so annoying sometimes.
Anyway, point was; she wasn't alone. Turns out her best bud, and her biggest crush (shh), was sleeping probably in one of the bunks or something. Wierdly enough, she could hear the movement of a livin thing creaking either in the bunks, or in some of the chairs.

Pushing hanger appart, and opening it slowly, yet not so quietly. The metal screamed in protest as they were pushed away from each other, and stroking the grey ground. Her music was ****in low, but, well, when you're a feral, you don't really get into that blastin-high music thingy....

Once the hanger was open, the sight of Ben lyin in one of the newest armchairs....so, yeah, it was an old one. And, well, he had been lying, but now he was more like sitting. Talk about good senses.

"Hey, Benny Boy." she grinned foxily, "Sup?"

With that she threw her backpack in one of sofaes around, and opened the seriously dirty fridge. Taking out a bottle of water, she turned back to her friend, unscrewing the bottle, as she leaned against the refridgiator door.

"Whatcha doin here at 5 am, anyway?" she asked, tilting her head a little, "Never got home?"

For some reason, the site of his best bud at the door did nothing to relax Ben, in fact he felt as though he were wound even tighter than before, if that was even possible. Watching her as she walked toward the fridge, Ben tried to shake the feeling that there was something up. It had been nagging at him since the day in the gym, and he was beginning to wonder if maybe, just maybe, there was something to it.

"Uh, yeah. When Narky Larky and Tomo showed up I skittled. Glad to see you got out all right, though I had no doubt you would." Leaning back in the chair, Ben stretched his arms out above his head and yawned widely. He couldn't believe it was five am already. His parents would no doubt be getting up soon to do whatever it was parents did. They wouldn't worry bout him, that much he was sure of. As long as Jemma was safe in her bed, they would be just peachy. She was there little angel after all, and Ben was just the black sheep of the family.

Wondering where everyone else was, Ben cast a glance around the place. Usually after they had been 'sprung' they would go there separate ways and come back to the hanger before dawn, but he and Max where the only two to show up so far.

Which is just fine by me. Ben blinked and looked away, coughing furiously at the thought. He had a girlfriend. A very needy, sometimes irritating beautiful annoying girlfriend, and Max was his best mate. End of story. There was nothing there to worry bout. She was just one of the guys. It was that simple. It didn't matter that the thought of Max coming anywhere near him made him panic, and that he had to give himself a kick up the but whenever he caught himself looking at her that way. So far, he had managed to avoid the thought of her as anything other than a friend, but it was less easy when they were alone and his mind was playing tricks on him. Standing up, Ben wandered over to one of the benches on the other side of the hanger. they would have to yell to talk, but his discomfort would be less noticeable from this distance. Unless max decided to move.

Leora double checked her "disguise" and slid Artemis' facial mask and mind set (not to mention attitude) into place. She had left the home at her usual time and left a note on the kitchen table for her grandmother. The elderly woman didn't mind. Her granddaughter was always leaving early and as long as her grades didn't suffer, she didn't truly worry.

Her sunglasses glinted in the rising sun as she walked quickly towards the hangout. Artemis was Leora's other half, the motorcycle and strategist extrodinaire. A stark contrast to the quiet, out-of-the-way, little bookworm that Leora was. In fact, her best friend Max was the only one who knew she was Leora. After all, Leo had a reputation to uphold...and so did Artemis.

Adjusting the navy-blue baseball cap on her head and pulling at the long ponytail threaded through the back, she opened the door and saw that Ben and Max were already here. She stopped and put a hand on her hip, a small smirk on her lips. You could cut the tension (sexual tension) with a knife.

"Morning Max, Ben." she said with a pleasant voice. Her black leather jacket was zipped halfway up to keep the morning chill out and her dark-blue denim jeans were freshly washed. Artemis' feet were adorned with a pair of broken-in hiking shoes with a steel-toe that she always wore when working.

Taking off her jacket and throwing her knapsack (containing her school clothes as well as her homework) onto a nearby chair, she stood next to Max in her plain, black tank-top. Her brown eyes barely visible her sunglasses, Artemis grinned. "Heya."

Max grinned at that. Narky Larky and Tomo were cops, but that didn't mean they were good at their job. Cause, hell no if they were. Everytime they showed up, it took around a second to dissapear, easy as that. Like usual, she'd just showed em the true way of drifting. Well, she drifted...they didn't. Let's just say they were a little busy trying not to fall down the moutain. Racing with cops was always a total blast.

She was about to reply, when she suddenly noticed two things. One, another person had arrived. Or more likely her best friend, Leo aka Atremis. Sure, she hadn't entered yet, but so what? She was still outside. Second, something was seriously wrong with Ben. He seemed so...uncomfertable, which was pretty wierd. Hell, she couldn't really say she'd seen him like that ever, if you didn't count at the gym, but that was just a one time thing, right? Okay, so fine, she pretty much felt like jumpin his bones everytime she saw him, but he had a pretty cool girlfriend and he was her bloody best friend. Thankfully, latley, she'd been able to...well, think about other things, get it out of her head. She was damned proud that when she saw him today, she hadn't gone all feral on him, or even given him a second glance. And the high score goes to the brain.

But, like always, right in the middle of her two second conversation with herself, she of course noticed that he for some ****in reason was lookin hotter now than he looked in the gym. How was that damned possible? Growling silently to herself, she almost paniced as she couldn't help but let her eyes trace over her best friend annoyingly slowly. Not again!! Snapping her eyes back to something else, she wished Leo'd arrive soon. Meanwhile, she'd just have her eyes trace the dots on the roof and pretend that her eyes were one second away from going feral.
Okay, could you look anymore stupid? Mentally sucker-punching herself, she forced a cheeky smirk, and jumped easily up on the celing plates, and balanced her petite body on the metal. Note to self; act like a kitty to stop wanting to **** your best friend. Wait....damn it! Groaning, she furiously tried to think about something else than how hot Ben was today. Hell, his smell, which was something she never did manage to describe was flowing off in waves, like he'd just woken up or somethin.
Unfortunatley, while she was busy kicking her own ass for staring at his abs a little bit too long, she accidently lost her balance and somehow managed to fall down. If she wasn't a feral, yeah, then she'd probably have had a very akward moment.... Landing steadily in a crouch, with one leg out, one bend, and her hands inbetween, she seriously wondered what was taking Leo so long.

"Morning Max, Ben."

Speaking of the sun, guess what? She got her wish, she realized when Leo entered the scene as Artemis. Grinning in delight, she got back on her feet and almost hugged her friend to death, well....a short death, but a death none the less.

"Heya."

"Hey, sis!" she laughed, "Sup, and what took ya so long?"

Artemis laughed in amusement. She could almost see the relief pouring off of her friend in waves. In the back of her head, she cheekily wondered what would've happened had she waited a little longer to come inside. The girl probably would've entered to see her best friend pounce on poor Ben and have him pinned to the ground, a visual that she didn't need to see so early in the morning. Not that it wouldn't have been good blackmail material. Joking.

She returned the hug with just as much energy (minus the gratefulness) and got a whiff of Max's mind just as she touched her skin. Okay, Artemis was curious as to what the girl was thinking. However, she blocked off too many images before she invaded too much private mind space. All she got were some very primal instinctual urges as well as a lot of cussing...interesting.

"Sorry, I had to make sure everything was okay." Artemis said pulling back. She was referring to her grandmother, although not directly. Ben would assume she was talking about something else.

"I guess that I got here just in time then?" she asked with a cheeky grin and a raised eyebrow. Although her eyes were hidden, you could tell that her gaze was darting back and forth between Ben and Max.

Ben swallowed as Max moved up onto the ceiling rafters. The cheeky grin plastered on her face did noting to calm Ben's nerves, and in fact he was worried he might just jump up there and join her. Turning, Ben began tinkering with whatever the hell it was that was lying on the bench in front of him and muttered to himself, before turning back toward Max only to see that she was back on the ground not two feet from him. looking down at her, Ben was reminded once again of that day in the gym, and although his brain told him to look away, his body wasn't listening.

Saved by the Bell. Or the Artemis at least. Grinning broadly, Ben welcomed her presence whole heartedly, until she opened her mouth that is.

"I guess that I got here just in time then?"

"Uh, yeah, I was thinking of leaving, but you know, can't go till we plan our next exploit. What will we do tonight?" Ben grinned and wondered over to the kitchen area, once again putting space between him and Max. She was his best mate, and he couldn't even stand being near her. It was insane. Snap put of it! Ben thought, wondering how this had all gotten so completely out of hand. Going to the fridge, Ben began making himself a sandwich. Anything to get his mind off.. whatever it was his mind was stuck on.

"SO, uh, how did you get out of it Artemis?" Small talk. Ben Sirelo was reduced to small talk. It was a wonder he could even stand himself!

Shrugging, Artemis stretched leisurely until she heard a satisfying pop in her shoulder joints.

"You can get out of anything once you put your mind to it." She left the answer cryptic on purpose. It was one of the things that she liked to do...it kept her fellow team-mates mystified.

Pulling out a bottle of water from her knapsack, she twisted the lid off and took a few satisfying gulps. Swilling the water around in the bottle, she watched Ben (on the other side of the room) busy himself in preparing a sandwich.

"I say that we go over what went down last night before we do anything about tonight." Artemis was referring to the unwanted arrival of the two "cops". "Understanding history is the key to the future." That was Leora's old standby phrase.

The older girl was glad that she wasn't as burdened with teenage drama as Max and Ben were. What a dilemma those two were in. Max was crushing on Ben who had a girlfriend; Ben was physically attracted to Max (maybe more, who could really tell) but felt it was wrong because they were best friends. Not only that, but Max really respected Ben's girlfriend.

The only drama Artemis was involved in was maintaining her two seperate personas: Artemis and Leora. She'd been doing it for two years now, so there shouldn't be any problem there.

"We need to see what we're doing right and what we're doing wrong in all of our races." Always the strategist, and anything to get the two younger teens' minds off of each other.

Max almost nodded at that. Leo's grandmother was pretty awesome, but she was always so...well, concerned for her granddaughter. Not that it was a bad thing, hell, she did have a pretty good reason to worry, if she even had a clue of which gang Leora was in. But, still, it was kinda cute watching those two, like one of those family loving movies out there; totally classic.

"I guess that I got here just in time then?"

Pouting a little, she flashed her eyes playfully at her sister. If it was anyone else saying that, then their asses would be kicked all the way to London, but, c'mon, this was Leora! Who didn't love this chika? 'Kay, so no one but her knew who Artemis really was, but so what, she was still bloody impossible to hate...at least in her book anyway.

"SO, uh, how did you get out of it Artemis?"

Hm...good question. How did she bounce? If she 'membered it right, then Leora got away before her, yet she never really saw she speed of her bike. Oh...wait, right, probably the usual way. Leora was probably the smartest chick she'd ever known, so wasn't really that much of a surprise.

"You can get out of anything once you put your mind to it."

Heh, typical answer. Leo's acting skills were totally awesome. Artemis was the 'bad one', with the sarcasm and the mysterious 'ways', while Leo was your sweet & shy girl next door. Perfect back up, eh? Which might explain why Leo was pretty much one of her role models. But don't tell anyone, cause...well, have you seen yourself without a head?

Glancing at Ben, she suddenly found herself getting way more self control. Actually, she didn't feel like jumping any bones or kicking the S### out of a wall. Maybe all she needed was a little bit of a distraction, she grinned in delight.

"We need to see what we're doing right and what we're doing wrong in all of our races."

Ooh, goodie, Leo. Exactly those kind of things she liked to do. Back when Zane was the leader, they'd be doin exactly that for...well, 12 hours or something whenever the street turnament came up. Usually, everything went fine with the bloody A and the blessed +, but what they always needed to get a grip on was drifting. Well, some of em. Not all of em drifted, just three to two racers, easy as that. Though, two years ago, they lost against the Japanese gang called Razors in Japanese or something. Whatever. Point was; they were the ones who invented it, and this year, the stakes were probably higher than usual. According to Kea, her secret friend who used to be a member there, well, this was their last year. So, yup, it was gain all or loose all.
Not that wierd they needed to get a hang of drifing, eh? But, first, they probably needed to figure out who was doin what. Mostly everyone were gonna race the usual lap turnament and the chase-em-down-beat-em-down thingy, but three to two needed to also do some drifting. She joined as a drifter, so that left two others or hopefully more. Only current problem was; when to spill the beans?

"Sounds good, where's the tape-dude?" she asked, sitting down on the floor comfertably. The tape-dude, what's-his-name, was the one who pretty much recorded everything they did, and she ment everything, seriously. Yesterday, he tried to follow one of the rival racers into the showers...males. Hehehe, quite a funny sight. "And, any of ya guys gonna drift? Cause we're still short two. And where the hell did the rest of the gang end up?"

Shifting her weight slightly to the side, Artemis crossed her arms over her chest and thought. Her face (what you could see of it) was serious.

"Hm, I don't know if I can call myself a 'drifter'...I mean I can lean pretty far and no-one corners like my bike, but I don't think that a motorcycle counts in a car race."

It was true, other than being there to help strategize, Artemis was on the sidelines, keeping an eye out for anything that might be against the rules. If anything did go south, she'd be on her bike faster than you could say "mount and ride" and speeding down the road to deal with it. Few gangs had motorcyclists in their group, the ones that did Artemis usually didn't worry about. When it came to physics and motorcycles...she had a full length ahead of the competition.

"However, if the rules change this year...then I guess I'd be a drifter." Artemis said finally after a pause. She had been working on a new cornering technique that was a lot like car drifting...but riskier.

When taking a corner tight, the rider would apply the breaks and lean in the direction of the turn as far as you could...often a 45degree angle or less. But as soon as the corner starts to straighten out again, the rider has to snap back into race position and gun-it like a bat out of hell. The hardest part was timing the gas and the leaning. She had never managed to lean as far as she was supposed to and so the turn wasn't as sharp as it could've been. A successful lean would be where the rider can actually skim their free hand (one still on the handlebars of course) across the road as they lean. Her hand was about three inches above the ground.

So many things could go wrong...but it would shave time off like crazy if she could get it right. Artemis clenched her jaw. She'd get it.
