Cringing as the door slammed behind him, Ben made his way over to one of the bedraggled couches that hadn’t been burned, shredded or destroyed by one of he many accidents people tended to have when experimenting with different engines and explosives. His head was throbbing, a direct result of the night before, and he knew without a doubt if he went home Jemma would love nothing more then to torture him in any way she could. Ben was in no mood for her brand of fun. Dropping himself down on the couch, Ben groaned and covered his face with hi hands to block out any light and tried to remember what exactly he had got up too. And more importantly, who with? He had a vague memory of making out with a girl who was not his girlfriend and making a fool of himself I the middle of a dance floor somewhere, but beyond that he couldn’t really pinpoint any one event. Flinching as the door groaned under the strain of someone entering, Ben called out a warning. "I have a headache and am not above blaming others for it." There was no humor in his voice, but it still sounded like a weak threat. |

"Quite your whining, you big sook. What ever did happen to you last night, one minute we were Have a great time, you were making out with that chick, whoever it was, and we were downing shots, next thing you were nowhere to be seen." Truth was Dan could remember none of what had happened after the girl at the bar. Although Dan, Ben and all the guys they went out with were under age they got served every where One of the perks of the whole mind control thing I guess And last night, from what Dan could remember, there weren't many places in town they didn’t go. Truth was Dan only stopped because the bars all closed and then he had come to the club house and passed out down the side only to be awoken by the sound of Ben clumsily entering the premises. "What time did you stop?" his question came in the strongest voice he could |

"Quite your whining, you big sook. What ever did happen to you last night, one minute we were Have a great time, you were making out with that chick, whoever it was, and we were downing shots, next thing you were nowhere to be seen." Ben jumped a mile when he suddenly heard a voice come form behind the couch. Well, he jumped the slightest bit before his headache made all further movement impossible. Sitting up slightly, Ben tried to recollect exactly where they had been. At least he knew some of his memories where correct, Dan seemed to remember the same mystery girl he did. "Mate, don't talk about shots, women, or... anything remotely related to the happenings of last night. I think I stopped about an hour ago. I don't know, I woke up under the tree house, but I wasn't damp enough from the dew to have been there long." Ben furrowed his brow trying to remember more, but the action caused him physical pain, so he gave up. Sitting up and resting his head between his hands, Ben wondered who else had been witness to his folly with the random girl, as he was sure it would get back to Natasha somehow. "Dan, who else was out with us last night? Any one who'd... you know, dob me in?" He sounded like a pathetic excuse of a human being, all horse and wimpy, but he was not exactly thrilled with the idea of being on Natasha's hit list. She wasn't the sort of person you wanted to cross. |

“Dan, who else was out with us last night? Any one who'd... you know, dob me in?" Dan new exactly what Ben was getting at before he had even finished talking but realized this was not the place or time to give him a hard time about it. Not that was even sure what the time was. “I vaguely remember seeing Max and James, but after number six or seven they all started looking the same." Wondering again what the time was Dan glance at his watch and noticed that the face was cracked. What the hell? Dan’s knuckles suddenly started throbbing as he noticed that they where bloody. Checking his face he noticed a severely swollen right eye socket. How am I going to explain this one away?! "Hey Ben did we start any fights last night? Or get involved in any at least" Suddenly not sure if it was he or Ben who had committed the worst crimes of the night, Dan began to really concentrate on picking the pieces back up. If Michael Thomas and the Night Watchmen where going to come down on him for assault, he was going to need to know what happened to get out of a jail sentence effectively. He was just beginning to realize how deep his amnesia ran when he suddenly heard the door open and spun around to see who now intruded on their pity party. |

“I vaguely remember seeing Max and James, but after number six or seven they all started looking the same." Ben chuckled at the summation of the evening, but stopped when it became to much for his poor head to bare. Standing up slowly, Ben ambled toward the stove top in the vain hope there would be coffee to be had, even if he had to make it first. he caught site of himself i the stove top, grimy as it was, and winced as he realized he had a black eye. Was he that drunk that someone actually managed to land a punch in his face? He hated to think it was so, but the evidence was hard to ignore given that it was right there on his face. "Damn!" Ben exclaimed, only moments before his friend made a similar discovery, or so Ben assumed by his next comment. "Hey Ben did we start any fights last night? Or get involved in any at least" "I don't know mate, but it looks that way. What the hell happened?" He wasn't shocked that they had been in a fight, but it was a surprise that they were on the loosing side, at least thats how it looked. Ben was startled form this newest discovery as the door swung open once agin. ben just hoped it wasn't the guys form last night back for round two. Well, at least this time he would be ready for them. |

James was one of those people who recovered from the effects of a big night out with ease and managed to retain most of his memories, which was something he was sure his friends would be grateful for once he entered the hanger and saw them both in a state of post drunken self loathing. Trying not to look too pleased with himself, James wondered over to where Ben stood at the stove, handing him a large cup of coffee, black and strong as was his taste, and touching him on the shoulder just long enough to remove the obvious injuries and the headache, but leaving him with enough pain in his ribs to help the lesson of his actions the previous night sink in fully. Next he made his way over to Dan and gave him a similar offering; and though the coffee was less black it was equally strong. “Ok, so Dan, You where at my place last night and were up late playing video games,” Dan winced at this, but James pushed on. “It was the best I could come up with on the spot, I needed coffee. Your mum was worried” Whacking Dan over the head as he spoke, healing him of both his black eye and his hangover in one easy motion but still wishing to leave him with some sort of pain, James then turned his attention to Ben. “I suggest you come up with a similar story. I doubt Michael Thomas and his lot are after us right now, seeing as the guy who started is the new professor up at the school. James smirked and sipped his coffee, waiting for the torrent of questions and comments this piece of news would no doubt bring. |

"I don't know mate, but it looks that way. What the hell happened?" Dan was wondering the same thing; it was not that they had not been in fights before. They were renowned for starting fights and more to the point ending them. Having Ben around obviously helped but it wasn't like Dan couldn't hold his own in a fight. His ability wasn't physical so Dan made a point of staying supper fit so he could keep up. What was different about last night was that neither of them remembered it. Dan just hoped one of the others might remember something. Just then James walked in, all sunshine and light, and began dishing out coffee as well as alibi's and healings. Every time Dan was healed by James it sent shivers through his body. “OK, so Dan, You where at my place last night and were up late playing video games, It was the best I could come up with on the spot, I needed coffee. Your mum was worried” Dan didn't like the idea of his sister having that sort of information to hold against him, but it was simple enough that he could bluff his way out any potential holes that might get poked in his story. "I doubt Michael Thomas and his lot are after us right now, seeing as the guy who started is the new professor up at the school." Dan's hearts skipped a beat as the words crossed James' lips. They had been in fights with barmen, bouncers even an of duty night watchman once, but to fight with a professor was bad. Even for Dan it was bad, he doubted even he could talk his way out of it even if the professor did start it. "Did you just say what I think you said?" Despite the obvious panic he was feeling, Dan took a drink of his coffee. He was raised in a café, and was always taught you never let good coffee go to waste, even if you were facing impending doom. Or in this case, expulsion. |

Ben's musings were interrupted by the sudden appearance of one James Hatton. Thoroughly overjoyed at the sight of his one true hope of liberation Ben took the offered coffee and felt the relief as James heeled some of his aches and pains. Ben as a little miffed that his ribs still hurt, he knew full well James could heel anything, but thought it best not to look a gift horse in the mouth. Taking a deep swig of the steaming brew, Ben sauntered over to the couches again and relaxed back, rubbing his chest to see exactly how much damage James had left unchecked. Listening with only half an ear as James gave Dan his shaky alibi, Ben’s interest was piques as James revealed who was at the other end of their little tussle last night. His reaction was a little more... sedate than Dan’s response. “There’s a new prof, eh? Wow. Must have a good pair of fists on him. You know anything else about him?” Ben took another drink of his coffee and smirked to himself. If there was a higher up involved he was pretty sure there wouldn’t be any serious repercussions. It didn’t look good for Hatton if Professors where involved in bar fights, and the last thing the town needed was attention from the authorities and what not. Ben was pretty sure they were right. |

While Dan’s reaction to James’ news was comical, Bens was down right hilarious, while not unusual. James raised an eyebrow and took a sip of coffee before replying to either of their comments. He was surprised Max hadn't shown up yet, as he was sure she would have been here giving Ben her tow bob worth and her absence made him worry a little. Only a little however, and he wasn't about to admit it. After the way she reacted to Ben's concern last night He knew better then to say anything. He figured he would tackle Dan first, as the younger boy seemed a little more tense then his cohort. "Dan, be calm. It isn't as bad as all that. The guy was pretty cool. I mean, he was hitting on a minor, so he couldn't afford not to be cool." James was sure that comment would garner a severe reaction, so he moved onto Ben's comment as quickly as he could. "Yes, Ben, there is a new Professor. He teaches ethics, ironically, and some other new course they are introducing, something like research and acquisition." James had spoken To Professor Larcombe about the whole messy business earlier that morning, and while she had been open to answering his questions, she wasn't giving anything away for free. |

“There’s a new prof, eh? Wow. Must have a good pair of fists on him. You know anything else about him?” Dan was thrown a little of balance by Ben's response. "Must have a good set of fist on him, thats your first thought?:" Although he was a little curious, "do we know anymore." Dan was now thinking about how to deal with him if they ever bumped into him again. You know like when we went to the same school every day. Dan figured if they found anything out they might be able to pretend that they remembered something about the altercation. "Dan, be calm. It isn't as bad as all that. The guy was pretty cool. I mean, he was hitting on a minor, so he couldn't afford not to be cool." Dan was equally shocked to hear this because it was unlikely there were any minors in the bar, besides them of course, so it must have been Max. Dan was about to make some smart quip about being glad to have hit him and that he hoped it had hurt but James continued before he had the chance to do so. "Yes, Ben, there is a new Professor. He teaches ethics, ironically, and some other new course they are introducing, something like research and acquisition." "I take it his power isn't god sense then, picking a fight with Ben and all. Any news as to what it might be?" |

Ben nodded at the large amounts of info James had collected for them, not at all surprised of course. He seemed to fit in with the brains when it came to all that stuff, but Ben was still happy to have him amongst the Throwbacks. He was a good mate, and handy to have around. Especially in situations like this one, though his sore ribs protested that he could be a little more useful if he so wanted. He really was just a wee bit too virtuous some times. Upon hearing the guy had hit on Max (he assumed), Ben felt his muscles spasm, as if ready to hit the guy again, though he realized almost immediately that there was no one he could hit on good conscious, so he chose to roll his neck and try to relax. At least a little “Well, can’t blame us for decking him then, can he? No wonder the Night-watchmen aren’t going to say anything. That would cause problems for the Professor, and we all know hoe Mr. Thomas feels about any problems they Professor may have to handle.” Ben wiggle his eyebrows suggestively to emphasize his point, though he couldn’t n all honest be credited with finding this little bit of information out for himself. Kelly had said something and, Ben being Ben, he flirted until she was so flustered the whole truth came out. She really was good at noticing stuff that girl. "I take it his power isn't god sense then, picking a fight with Ben and all. Any news as to what it might be?" Ben chuckled and held out his fist toward Dan. He was also curious as to exactly what the guy could do seeing as how bruised Ben was, though he know figured much of his buses were inflicted from a…friendly source? |

It was morning. The birds were singing, people were laughing in the distance, the air was fresh and tingly - and her head ****ing throbbed. That was the first few things Max was aware of upon waking up. It felt like she'd gotten head-fuckeded by a sledge hammer. The second thing was that there was something wet on her face. It was water. Groaning in annoyance, she brushed the offending wetness off, turned over, curled into a ball - and went back to sleep. Screw the morning. She was sleeping in. Something wet fell on her face - again. Max blinked, twitched and forced her eyes open. Huh. It was raining. Oh well. A little rain now and then wasn't that bad. As long as it wasn't her getting wet, she was all for the raining thing. Wait. Max's eyes flew open. crap. She was outside. And it wasn't raining - it was pouring. She was outside, in the ****ing rain, drenched. ****. Purely by instinct, Max lurched sideways, heard the distinctive click of a window opening, and felt the ground beneath her all but disappear. Oh, great. Drenched cat in free-fall. Just ****ing great. Growling, she flashed her eyes, hit the ground in a crouch - and found herself inside the hanger, in front of a very familiar bedraggled couch, Ben, James, Dan and three steaming cups of coffee. Huh. Max looked up, and twitched. More rain was dribbling down through an open window hatch. Glaring, she scooted away from the rainy area, sat down, and promptly gave the thing the finger. Goddamn hatch. Telekinesis would have come in handy right now. Max sniffled, blinked, and sniffled again. Damn. She’d fallen asleep on the freaking roof. In, glancing down at herself, a black mini-skirt and someone’s oversized white dress shirt? Man, she must have been wasted last night. Wait. Max frowned. She didn’t get drunk. Her healing factor always made sure of that. Well, unless she tried something new…like that funny-smelling tequila mix-up shot her favourite bartender had begun making. Oh, - right. Immediately, last night’s events flashed through her head. Night-out, several bars, Jay serving her the regular drinks, a bit of dancing, more booze, newbie at the bar – hello hottie, more dancing, more booze, newbie getting punched in the face by Ben, Dan joining in – man, she was gonna kill those two – an all-out bar fight, her punching Ben and a certain someone introducing her to purple tequila shots... Eyes flashing, she snapped her head up. Promtly ignoring both Dan and Ben, she fixed an accusing stare at James and his bloody cup of morning coffee. “You gave me tequila.” She glared. [OOC: Hey all! Sorry for the long wait, and the short post. I didn't really have a clue to what to write and I'm a bit short on time right now, so I just improvised. Hope that's okay. Let me know if you guys want a rewrite.] |

James shook his head, laughing at Dan's appraisal, though he wasn't far off the mark. While the new Professor had a certain... charm to him, and wasn't bad to look at (Not that James thought so, he simply understood Max seemed too) Ben took it all in stride, as usual. James figured if he had been in as many punch-up's as his good friend he would feel just the same. His comments about Professor Larcombe solicited a simple lowering of the eyebrows. It was hard not to notice how Michael felt about the Prof, but James wished the people could find something better to do than gossip about the two most important people as far as the town’s safety was concerned. Like get hammered and start bar fights, he thought wryly Suddenly Max came tumbling through the roof and landed in front of them with little more than a 'slosh' as the water came in with her. James grinned widely and held out the coffee as a peace offering. He had a feeling she would remember his concerted efforts to get her absolutely wasted, and by the looks of things it had paid off. She still looked completely gorgeous, but slightly less... together, than usual. "I most certainly did, and boy oh boy was that something. I was chasing you all night!" Not for the first time James was glad he had a little more finesse then Ben, for his tone and method of delivery indicated he admired her ability to drink as much as she did, while still teasing her enough to bring a smile to her face. He hoped. If he were Ben, no doubt he would simply get punched. Again. |

Dan wasn't more than two feet from Max as she fell effortlessly onto her feet from somewhere on the roof and his heart skipped a beat as she did so, after the initial shock Dan was struck by the effortless nature of her landing, a landing that would have been far less graceful had it been attempted by him. Suddenly there was water falling from somewhere above, cascading down his face in a way that was very refreshing, removing the last traces of the night before, so he paused under it momentarily before stepping back out of its path. “You gave me tequila.” The snarl in Max’ voice was enough to send shivers up Dan’s arms, but of course James, who the comment was directed at, handled it with the cool, calm and colleted demeanor that he usually carried. "I most certainly did, and boy oh boy was that something. I was chasing you all night!" Dan’s eyes widened as he simply waited for max to punch him right in his mouth, especially since Max was aware that James could take it. Dan even took the measure of taking a few more steps backward to avoid becoming collateral damage. "So you remeber some stuff then?" Dan wasn' suprised, Max was usually good in those situations, but last night she had been out of it in a way he had never seen, so he wasn't expecting her to have her thoughts as in tact as she seemed too. Not before her morning coffee at least. |
