HISTORY IN THE MAKING 2008-2016

Good luck!

We've spent a good many years discussing politics, life, society and history. Most of all, the makers of history. The great events that changed the world - people, places, actions. Small acts have changed its hard-worn course, and effort and circumstance can make of its small actors immortal greats. In line with that sentiment, it seems pertinent now to recognize the potential of those who've made up this community for years, obvious through their contributions to the spirited debate and discussion that has proceeded here. HITM has sadly gone silent, though perhaps not lacking for things to say about making history, but rather for the realization that it is time we all commenced to do so, and make our mark.

Good luck to you all, see you in the history books!

Gang Wars V Nation Wars

Military wars have always existed as well. Plus, No one cares about one man, if that was the case this world never accomplish anything. A Gang war in Compton is not going to affect a man in iraq or a Zulu warrior.
The heart should only exist to pump blood to the brain and rest of the body anything else is a waste of time and energy.

Love and Hate are only impediments to the human condition.

Imagine what could be accomplished if only the human race could shed our humanity.

When the facts change, my mind changes. What do you do, sir?

Nope, but in Iraq there is another gang who makes the life of the other man misserable.

Technically. those are semi-trained personal armies, like Al-Sadr's militia.
"There are strange things done in the midnight sun,
by the men who moil for gold; the arctic trails have their secret tales that'd make your blood run cold...
the Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see...
was that night on the marge of Lake LeBarge, that I cremated Sam McGee."

Max's has a good point though gangs aren't everywhere. In most cities there are over hundreds of gangs. Not to mention Rommel 1 mans death is actually more important on a local scale then 100 dead soldiers. Why is this? Because sadly when 1 man dies we make publicity of it but when 100's of soldiers die its just a statistic.

You accidentally quoted a communist:

"The death of one man is a tragedy, the death of a million is a statistic"
- Josef Stalin

I know but I agree with it. That quote really has little to do with communism.

More or less stalin's dictatorship.

I have a book called "Stop the war" with a bunch of anti-war quotes in it, but not very well done.

How is that quote antiwar? Or hitler:

"War must come in my lifetime, I can be eliminated at any time by a lunatic"

lol. That's a good one.

Yea. he was a lil cookoo...... that was how the Schwarze Kappelle hoped to justly imprison him when thier Coup took place. It was a failure, but still. He was assessed to be a nutter long before he came to power..... (After being gassed in fact)

Regardless, does that sound like an anti-war quote?
I think this hippy had a lil to much of the peace pipe.
