Ok guys, let's not get nasty. Obama has some good ideas (especially getting rid of NCLB) and I agree, there is too much of an over-population on the planet. But if you look at Speaker for the Dead by Orson Scott Card, we developed many many colonies on other planets. Why in the hell can't we colonize the ocean??? There's absolutely no reason except that nobody can afford to do it, mostly because of the issues with the cost of petroleum and all of the stupid wars going on. Personally, I think that, while war is a necessity (and quite an interesting topic), we need to cut down on the number. Many wars we fight are completely and utterly retarded. A lot of this is caused by the over-population, which causes economic problems, which gives people reason to do stupid things, so really it's one big circle. If we're gonna fix any of this CRAP, we need to fix it all at once, or find a solution to everything (and please guys, don't bring up Revelations- I realize that would fix everything, kinda obvious that there aren't gonna be any problems in human society if there aren't any humans alive )

"No, to understand who a person really was, what his or her life really meant, the Speaker for the Dead would have to explain their self-story -- what they meant to do, what they actually did, what they regretted, what they rejoiced in. That's the story we never know, the story that we never can know -- and yet, at the time of death, is the only story truly worth telling." -Orson Scott Card, "Speaker for the Dead" "Love speaks in silence." -Father Golias "The only energy that can be destroyed is sin." -Gamemonkey | |

Don't you remember? All those planets we colonized? Mars and Venus and Klendathu and Hoth? |

Oh yea, I forgot. We never did go to any other planets, did we? Well, not in person anyways. |

We'll land on Mars in a year, I think. I'm not sure, I saw something about it on the History Channel a few months ago. |

How can you watch history channel and still have such an appallingly biased perspective of things? |
|
"There are strange things done in the midnight sun, by the men who moil for gold; the arctic trails have their secret tales that'd make your blood run cold... the Northern Lights have seen queer sights, but the queerest they ever did see... was that night on the marge of Lake LeBarge, that I cremated Sam McGee." - Robert W. I wouldn't say a year. I'd say 2016 at the earliest. We could've made it by now, if we didn't give up our Space Affair in the 70s (and no, Dragon, we did. No-one has landed on the moon since the 70s.) |

Only robots landed on Mars a few times, no humans(that will take at least 10 years more). |

You can't watch the history channel and be biased. It's physically impossible. |

You're kidding right? The history channel shows a bias all the time. |
| "Because a girl should have long hair, she should have clean hair; because she should have clean hair, she should not have an unclean home; because she should not have an unclean home, she should have a free and leisured mother; because she should have a free mother, she should not have an usurious landlord; because there should not be a usurious landlord, there should be a redistribution of property; because there should be a redistribution of property, there shall be a revolution." -G. K. Chesterton | |
